Yeah i can get on rails that i go at straight on, but i want to learn to get on rails that you have to go at them from one side...

i slide right foot forward

go fast, come from side of choice, lean hella hard an far forwar on ur noses then do the illest nollie to tail press down the rail

dont listen.....come up to it with moderate speed(not as much as you would hop halfway down the rail)but enough to just get you on.you want to be almost pointing in the same direction as the rail but with a very little angle towards it. hop up and once your over the rail or just about over the rail begin to turn 90'. it varies from person to person on what foot to put on first but i usually put my back foot on first and then sort of step on with my other foot. its hard to explain but it makes it alot smoother.you have to commit to it and not just slide off the side. look at the end of the rail and you should have just done it

you can jump with your outer leg and throw you inner leg upward to get you high enough to get on the rail, the make sure you're leanin forward because if it's setup urbanly then it'll probably be a down rail...

just get up over the rail and then turn and slide it like normal if it's a flat rail. it'll take some practice to get your weight and balance right to stay on the rail but you'll get it.

if it's a round rail you have to get on the rail from the side and then kind of roll up onto the top. i don't know how to explain it really but if you try to get right on the top without leaning right then you'll just slide right over. practice makes perfect man so just hit urban rails as much as you can and you'll get it down eventually

first things first, before you start doing what everyone is saying, just find a short one, go fast and launch off and land on it further down the bottom. It will give you awareness of the speed and angle you need to be going at to comfortably hit it. Once you feel comfortable doing this, slow down and start popping off the lip and landing higher up. Above all make sure you practice raising your tips up before turning 90. I'm still learning "urban" style rails, and on occasion I've had one of my tips hit the side of the rail. Above all, just pop off the lip and you should be fine.

good thread. i tried looking for a picture to help you out... i found this

its not the best picture but its the only one i found.

i dont really recommend doing this unless you have fairly good balance on handrails and can disaster a good distance on a flatbar...might turn out bad. oh and if osmeone says relax dont do it too much cause sometimes when im tired and im just too relax i always forget to hop and just sortof hobble on to the rail and it usually ends badly....aproach with confidence and be sure to try again imediatly after if you fall

the only reason I remmended doing that is because that's the only way I got the balls to actually go out and try a urban style rail. It was a really short one too, no more than 10 feet, so by the time I landed, I only had like 5 feet left to slide. It's like once I got that landed, the adrenaline would help me get over the fear of trying something new. Of course, he could just go for it and eat shit and fall on the bar and slide out the rest of the rail on his ribs.

yes he could.except if you cant even go on a handrail setup from the side then disastering it is going to lead to imminent death by most likely, a) him trying to go to fast and not turn enough = nutdeath or b) him flying over the side of the rail into stairs. i think the main thing here is not to do urban without being able to approach from the side. its really not that hard if you have the technique...it just takes time to master it

i don't know about you but the way i do it is just get as much speed as you regualry would or a little more hit it hit it with the slightest angle going towards the rail pop and lock your left foot on first and your right foot will follow

i just jump and step the left on and swing my right on

i just realized how hard it was to teach that
