I really want to start throwing some flat spins... but buddy started doing them but his explination as to how to throw it is real vag.. can anybody help me out?

... Vague

Kick your left shoulder with your right foot, and look backwards and over your left shoulder.

Japan or safety are easy and bring your body together. Reach for the left flag on the jump like you want to take it with you, then grab that right ski instead (assuming you spin left). Look around, not over, your left shoulder at about 270 to keep it as flat and sweet looking as possible. Rolling out of the flat looks pretty lame and is a really easy way to get by with a flatspin. If you roll out it's basically the same as a rodeo 5 that is more spin than flip, weak sauce. Here is a video I loaded of a small flat 5 I did that I think is perfect for teaching people in every one of these 1,000 threads how to do a flat or rodeo 5:

Japan is the classic flatspin grab.

If you spin leftside, wind up as normal on the lip, then pop up, back and right. Look over left shoulder, and spot as you come round

i lold. watch the nimbus stuff, i'm sure you'll see some good examples. explanations for tricks from any extreme sport (lol) don't turn out well. you just gotta do what you see.

i started by setting my rotation between backflip and lincoln basically, which i guess could be considred a "wackflip" but as you get used to the rotation you can throw your shoulder in it to make it more and more flat. just drop your right shoulder (and grab japan), kick your legs towards left shoulder, look over your left shouler.

+ K for someone actually describing the difference between a rodeo 5 and a flat 5 that can actually be visualized by anyone on NS. Quality Post
