HELP with edges cracks

gnarles.

So my reno jibs have tons of edge cracks.11 to be precise with only 30 days of riding on them. One of these edge cracks is really bad and starting to lift and pull out but only slightly. The thing is I don't want this to continue with this edge cracks or any other ones. So i was thinking about welding the cracks then filing them down or seeing if a store could fixish them for me if it is possible. It would be awesome if some one could tell me some ways to help make shure my edges don't come out because frankly I have no idea what to do.

Thanks

Ive never thought about welding the edges....With that many cracks, you are already past the point of no return. Every time you hit a rail they will get more cracks and you will lose edge. The only thing you can really do is take them to a good shop and have an edge replacement done. They would cut out the bad edge, along with some of the base along the edge. The new edge is screwed and epoxied in, base welded and stoneground. Dont expect that fix to be permanent and it will run probably $75+.

If you dont hit a rail or box again, very well. As soon as you start hittin the metal again, it will break. Think of it this way, the original edge had only one seam and you broke that, now you will have a compromised edge integrity with a total of 3 seams. Two of which will be in an area of the ski that will more than likely come into contact with metal.

Hmm ok well I geuss il try welding.has any one ever tried it before? My friend said it would just melt the edge of

welding will probably do more harm then good. the amount of heat that goes into the metal when welding will totally fuck your base and sidewall.

welding wont work. even if you didn't melt your base and side walls the edges would be to brittle. if you have patience you could carefully braze them but it would be time consuming because you can still melt/ burn the ski.

solder, and that probably wouldn't work either because although it is less heat then welding its still enough to melt metal so it would melt the plastic on your skis and it would not be a solid joint, it would crack and fall off with the impact of hitting rails.

No welding... Welding is not an option. First, there is the heat it will destroy the ski. Second, you cannot ground a tiny piece of segemted edge. Third, the edge will be even more brittle after welding. Fourth, the base would totally contaminate the fusion bath. Forget it you cannot weld edges and it would be easier the rip them out and apply new ones. But don't do this either because there is no guarrantee that they will stay in for a long period of time.

You are a victim of the steel rail....just keep abusing your skis to the upmost degree. If you are lucky enough that the edges haven't ripped out yet just grind the whole edge so none of the segments catch and move on...my condolences

Ok well I guess I'm going to ride them till there is nothing left to ride on or make money and get new skis lol
