Help with burning from dvd to computerr...+++karma!

so i have a dvd of me skiing

i stuck it into the drive (i have a windows vista) and the little windows media player shows up

then on the side it shows chapters and i go to the segment im in

what i am tryin to do is save that segment onto my desktop to be able to put it on the internet.

anybody know how to do that?
