Help with balance?

I'm looking to get more into rails and pipes but my balance fucking sucks. Any excercises or tips or anything to help improve it? Cheers NS.

Balance boards have definitely helped me. You can buy one or if you have a skateboard deck laying around and a sturdy water bottle that works perfectly fine too. Even if you spend 5-10 minutes a day messing around on it it’ll definitely help your balance and the muscles involved with stability in your knees

skateboarding in general helps a ton, can also help with your air awareness. or, you can try rollerblading, which has similarities.

get your feet slightly wider than shoulder width and focus on the end of the rail. Your body will balance naturally with unconscious inputs. Have fun!

Insert finger into belly button. Balance skill level instantly goes up 10pts. Plus it keeps you from flapping like a bird when your trying to lock on to that rail

one balancing exercise you can try is strapping two wooden planks to each of your feet and sliding on a long metal surface. The key is to try to stay as centered and balanced as possible.

im pretty sure there are other threads on this...

balance training with equipment

1- bosu ball

2- wobble board (dish with small ball in middle)

3- balance board

4- big yoga ball (you can learn to stand on them when your balance gets good enough)

5- slack line

balance training without equipment

1- 1 footed squats (shooting the duck?)

2- weighted russian twists

3- plank

cheap skate deck on old soccer ball (more air in the ball = harder to stay on) is a great poor man's balance board

play other sports

work out

would definitely try going into the feature with a more aggresive stance, try widening your feet which can help get more control

Skateboarding in transition is by far the best thing you can do for your rail balance. Its honestly crazy how similar it is balancing on a skateboard and balancing on a rail with skis.

But if skateboarding isn't your jam, balance boards, slacklining, rollerblading, or even yoga can help
