Help with 5-Panel Hats? (K+)

would it be possible for you to trace your templates onto a piece of paper then scan that on? it'd be super helpful if you could. I'm planning on sewing 5 panels and bucket hats this summer to make a little extra cash

Bumping this because im trying to find somewhere to buy adjustable back straps and i can't seem to locate any.

ALSO

If anyone wants the pattern for a 5 panel, PM me, i'll send you a dropbox with the pattern!

Just putting this on the second page! Helping people out!

Threads gonna start doing this soon hopefully. Anyone know if/where you could buy like a sheet of plastic to cut the brims out of?

Thought i'd show my first hat.

That looks great, is the process to build the hat as complicated as it seems?

Not at all! I followed this video but once you do it once, it's straight forward!

I'll probably make another soon!

Thanks, I'll have to get after it then. Btw why doesn't NS have five panels along with their SnapBacks? I feel like there is a pretty large market for both style hats.

I think 5panels are only now starting to become the new snapback. I could be wrong but that's what im seeing.

is there a sewers cult by chance? I have a lot of projects id like to tackle but lack sewing skills.

My grandma used to be huge into sewing and quilting and what not, and aside from sewing a few pillows and basic things with her when I was 6, haven't touched a sewing machine.

My mom now has my grandmas sewing machine, apparently it's a pretty good one, come to think of it my dad actually repaired his canvas boat tarp with it once.

There is a sweatshirt makers cult which is basically just kids who sew

I know that it's a mix, but what is good fabric to use, and where do you buy it?

I just got some Cotton fabric from Joann's. Or you could get it from https://www.fabric.com/ You can basically use any fabric, but find something thats not too thick, or too thin. I might have to double layer this cotton fabric to be honest.

Also sorry for dub post, but I just got cotton fabric as I said above, Would it be too thin if I did a single layer of it?

This seems pretty dope, I might make one or two after finals are over. How hard are they and what level of skill do they take to make to a good level of quality?

Takes pretty decent skill level to make them good quality, but if you know what you're doing it's not exactly hard

Mine was all cotton. I doubled up so it was thinker. It still works, it's just hotter/flimsy compared to if you get a thicker material.

Hmm, might go for this in the summer then, cause I need some shit to do when I can't ski.

Thin is fine when you're wearing it, actually preferable imo, just doesn't sit upright if you plan on displaying it.

Thought i'd post up one i made for my girlfriend. She freakin loves it.

Anything you make for a girl is a million times better then anything you buy them. Remember that!
