HELP! Will FT Ascendants Work for Me?

Hey

So I really want the 2020 Ft Ascendant. I currently ride a First Chair 8 (soul shell 99mm) and have serious pain at the widest part of my foot. I think I need a wider last. I measure a 101mm. Will the 102mm FTE shell be too much? I work at a ski shop so I have access to shell and liner molding and any modifications necessary. I want to be certain these boots will work for me before I get them. I guess my final question is will i be able to achieve the perfect fit with a heat molded liner and shell if necessary? Please lmk!!!

If you work at a ski shop can’t you just ask one of the bootfitters to look at your feet? There’s a lot more to how a boot fits than just the width and length.

Yah i talked to our boot fitter he was confident we could make it work with some tweaking but our shop is not a full tilt dealer so he is not 100% familiar with them. in terms of measurements he was fairly certain i would be good

I had the same problem with full tilts, and have wide feet too, so i would go with the b&e's. They are wider and you can still heat mold them to your feet

Stupid question...if you’ve ridden FT boots with pain before then why are you so desperate to get another (albeit different) pair? Can’t you get touring boots from your local shop with an employee discount which will a) work out cheaper and b) probably work out better in the long run if you’ll be getting fitted by your mate who will probably go that extra mile for you compared to a regular customer to make sure your boots work for you

The B&e is the same boot as the ascendant without pins and walk mode

Because there are different shell shapes and sizes. Just because one shell doesn’t work does not mean that the other one won’t.

But by that logic, OP should be open to any touring boot. Just seems odd to narrow it down to FT when there may well be a boot from a different brand which fits better

He can be open to any other boot, but if he likes Full Tilt there’s no reason not to try it on and see if it works. How do you know that another brand will fit better without seeing and analyzing his foot?

Hey Op.

The Ascendant could well be a good option if you found our narrower FTS shell too tight. The FTE shell which the ascendant uses is going to be slightly wider in the forefoot but it is not crazy wide out of the box so if you just need a bit more space it could be a good option. The shell and liner are full heat mold-able and we say you can get at least 5mm more room out of the shell but if you have some decent boot guys they will for sure be able to get more although it does not sound like you need it.

You may want to look at the Sammy Carlson model over the Approach. The SC has a slightly tighter fit because of the liner used so if you are unsure if you need the room the SC may be a good starting point.

Let me know if you have any more questions.
