Help: Where to ski in South Korea

I will be heading to South Korea starting January 1st, 2011 and I will be there for 2 years. I was wondering if anyone has been to South Korea and knows of the best places to ski pow or hills that have a decent park? I know most people go to Japan to ski pow, but I am look for some things in Korea since its a short drive.

Thanks for any help.......

I'll be working in a shipyard, basically construction management, but I heard that I will be an hour away from the nearest hill, so I am going to try and get 40+ days this season.

id say drive north for a while and youll reach a big fence, ignore that guards and climb it. there are some sick mountains right over it. wallisch is designing his pro model there in a top secret lab also....

loljk idk but skiing in korea seems cool

Dude your so fucking lucky id kill for that, living in korea is my dream. Where bouts you living? I know theres a good lot of resorts around seoul and there open 24 hours.

Im so jealous you cant even comprehend.

I heard the farther north you go the better the skiing is, and the less crowded the slopes are. Something about hostilities or something, I can't remember. Just ask around and someone will get you on a plane and over there in no time.

wtf, my post didn't post.... so weird

anywho, hope you're near a beach down south. And obviously there are tons of hills for the winter, but in the summer, check out one of the three or so indoor ski hills toooooooooo!

Thanks to all for the help

I PMed X-dragon but haven't heard anything back. I should be living about 1.5hrs away from Muju resort which is supposed to be the larges, just dont know how good it is. I have heard decent stuff about the Korean Alps up north, but I dont know how much powder they get? Would it be work taking jumper flights to Japan? Any recommendations on powder?

Thanks again +k

Definitely talk to XD. He is a super rad dude, and showed me around Korea when I was there. Phoenix Park is pretty damn good, but far from where you'll be I guess.

Get really good at Starcraft and people will love you.

Not to stereotype or anything... lol.

Skiing in south korea would be sick! Do you think you might get a few photos or videos?

Thanks to everyone for the help. Come January 1st, if anyone wants to go ski just PM me and we'll hit it up. I'll mostly be a weekend warrior due to work though.

just gap the 38th parallel, it could be a top rated pic.
maybe kim jong il could be introduced to steeze.

Screw korea... just take a ship over to hokkaido when you get a chance and hit up some legit fuckin pow riding in Japanistan.

That said. yes. hit up XD about korea.

Haha. Don't take too much offense, homie... By no means was that a serious response.

(although... there are def some hot Korean babes I have met in my life - that was kinda serious.)

Korea has the hottest girls out of any Asian country, real talk.

Koreans love plastic surgery, more than any other country. There's really no stigma surrounding it, so the chicks widen their eyes, fix small things, get boob jobs, etc.

Also, I was waiting in lineup for Starcraft II on launch day (nerd spotted) and the line was bum rushed by 3 Korean dudes. At first I was pissed, but then realized that the launch was the most important event in their entire lives, and just let it go.

Listen to Asian Allen cause he is Asian. Probably Korean or Chinese or Thai or someshit.

If I was good enough at starcraft to move to Korea to woop ass and make six figures per victory...

I'd probably be getting a lot of koryo poon tang.
