Help us save FREEskiing from total DESTRUCTION!!!!!!

Try harder to sound cool and edgy. I'm not a trend whore, I don't even ski park. You couldn't have misinterpreted my post any more, dumbass.

Yes, I know this is a complete troll and such, blah blah blah.

I do think that after the Olympics, there will be two sides to our sport. One will be the "newschool" style that's all about having fun and filming and what we enjoy now, the other side will be those who don't ski, they train. Parents will start starting their kids at age 4 skiing park, and there will be a sharp dividing line. Again. I did not take the op seriously, it just made me think of this.

well it is basically what would logically follow your sig, but i personally don't see much logic in any of your comments so carry on

haha trennon i get the joke! and It's extra funny because you know that candide and into the mind are far more impressive and rewarding than park comps but you still train kids to ski park every day........

I am against "freeskiing" in the Olypics purely due to laws of supply and demand. more participants in skiing = higher "demand" = higher prices. increase in demand is inevitable anyway, why speed up the process?

"supply" is certainly not going anywhere.

totally agree on how everyone complaining about this and that should just let hings be.live and let live.

thats what free skiing is all about

but i also approve very hard that the olympics arn't exactly a cool thing.

Spriggs' sig says it all.

skiing will become very boring eventually.

i don't think we need to worry too too much though.

shouldn't be too soon.

anyways..

don't even know what im tryna say

well if the pattern of your signature comes continue, we have nothing to worry about. 5 years from now, there will be a new version of freeskiing that's way cooler than the shit we do now ever could be. Then, when that is over regulated, there will be a new thing that is even cooler than that. It will just keep getting crazier and crazier, until the world ends

didn't pick up on the sarcasm at first, but well said haha. I think Erik Olson's interview about freeskiing has a very similar tone. I don't really pay attention to the competition side of skiing. To me the sport is just something that brings me the most joy in life and I do it for that reason and that reason alone

that could not have been a wores way to put it. what you just said is why we are going in the wrong path, people like you are crushing us.

asshole

I think this is ALMOST a great idea, but it's a little too complicated.

What we need is to get an older skier who can't do 99% of the tricks being done today, make them the Supreme Monarch of FREESKIING, and that person should determine what things should or should not be done in FREE skiing.

I nominate myself for this position.

Effective immediately, you should all PM me with examples of things that you are presently doing, and I will tell you whether they should be done or not, in the interest of FREE Skiing. All PM's to me should start with "Dear Your Awesomeness". If I receive a PM from you that does not begin this way, I will automatically rule that what you are doing is not in the best interest of FREE Skiing and is therefore illegal.

Thank you all for letting me appoint myself as Supreme Monarch of Freeskiing. Have a great day!

Sincerely,

Your Awesomeness

Your Awesomeness

I know we are supposed to PM you for your review and approval but i am sure that everyone on NS will be interested in your response to my request.

For the last 20 years i have quietly been pursuing my Ballet skiing passion. This has not been and easy road and it has been very tough to make a living doing it. Ballet skiers gets NO respect from the industry or filming community. I know that with your blessing ballet skiing could once again be cool..Please your awesome bless me with your approval.

PS it may be possible with your blessing that ballet could be reinstalled as an Olympic sport.

Thank You in advance.

Also, I watched "Into the Mind" recently and I have to say that our sport is not supposed to be about high production value films with with hi-res images and time lapses!

so buying a gopro and sending it to 100,000 ft on a weather balloon is a bad idea?

Ski Ballet is Rad and I fully support your Coming Out in support of this lifestyle.

I doubt, despite how epic ballet is, Putin would ever allow Ski Ballet at Sochi due to his extreme state of denial. Maybe we will see it at Pyeongchang in 2018.

You have my blessings to continue in your Ski Ballet pursuits.

Your Awesomeness

PS - Switch pole flips - 1:47 should definitely be done, but should be performed by skiers with really big permed dos accented by black headbands.

PPS - Helmets are now officially banned, and all Free Skiers must now wear headbands. By proclamation of Mr. Huck, Supreme Monarch of Freeskiing. Any Freeskier caught wearing a helmet will be stripped naked and cast into the Pit of Eternal Woe.

Are you kidding me? To say that supply isn't going anywhere is completely insane. New ski companies have been popping up every year, even without the increase in demand coming from the Olympics. We have an ever increasing supply as it is. Also, as demand rises, it creates more room for other suppliers to come in. In essence, the more demand rises, the more incentives there are for more suppliers to come into the market. Suppliers will continue to enter the market until an equilibrium is reached. There will be no excess demand that will allow suppliers to charge high prices. In fact, it is much more likely that prices will go down. More suppliers means more competition, and competition leads to lower prices. Worst case scenario, prices stay exactly where they are.

100% disagreeYo you know what means FREE?? let it be man, huge production like into the mind are awesome, just like little amateur movies. And what the hell with the hairstyle of henrick ??? NONE OF YOUR BUISNESS!! skiing is an awesome sport in constant evolution and it's very wide, there's a place for you and me and my grandma. Thanks for changing your way of seeing things.

I agree. There was no sarcasm in his interview, but it seems what he's saying/ warning in the article is similar to what this post is about.

Finally got to check this out. Love it Trennon!

seriously the sport of skiing contains several different sub-sports within it. Even if Halfpipe and slopestyle skiing do somehow totally bomb, I'm willing to put my entire scrotum on every other aspect being okay. Yes I said it. Both of these nuts are now on the line.

But I really don't think they are going to crash like moguls and aerials did, because humans tend to learn from their mistakes and they have learned. Sidenote- moguls and aerials are still alive by the way, and there are some damn good people out there competing in those sports who also ski park and pow ie. Dylan Ferguson. I understand people have their concerns, but really, who gives a shit?

Skiing isn't going anywhere. The mountains will still be open, the parks will only get better, the backcountry will still collect the freshest of flakes of pow, the snow covered streets will still be destroyed, and arenas will still be piling snow out back for those hot summer need-to-ski days.

Snow will fall my friends, and that snow will be skied, now and always.

Praise Jah!

Chuge

PS- Yes I am alive, save it.

This pretty much exactly. The Olympics and the mass media-ification of skiing is happening, some will benefit, some will probably be hurt by it, but none of us are going to stop having as much fun as humanly possible on a pair of skis out of principle.

I understand change brings fear and doomsaying, but let's just take it easy and try and see some of the positive, and it would be wrong to claim there aren't any, and let the chips fall as they may while we all continue to boot up and try and get into some snowy shenanigans.
