I think we all need to stop worrying about how other people ski and just focus on the type of skiing that YOU enjoy. Skiing should never be about making money! Ski for yourself, no one else.

PS this is obviously a sarcastic thread in case anyone is confused.

Hitting the lower parts of handrails is the evolution of freeskiing. It's an improvisation - something that hasn't been done before. People are taking this sport to new boundaries. If we keep watching rotation after rotation, flip after flip, it will someday become tedious. These people - especially dollo - are enlivening the sport and constantly evolving it which is what we need because you have to evolve and adapt to survive. And also dollos hair is something else
 
If this is a troll, BRAVO!!! You got my britches all twisted at first. You insulted some of the most influential skiiers starting from the infancy of the "newschool". Then, when you were talking about being "FREE" and proceeded to make a judgment on Dollo's hair style, I almost had an aneurism! I was skeptical whether this was real once I read "Because, if the way you choose to approach the sport doesn't conform to our vision, then it's definitely not "FREE", and that's what this sport is all about!" Even though you're Canadian, I thought to myself, "nobody is actually thad stupid." Well done sir! That was a great way to express your frustration as part of a facet of our limitless sport that has been receiving a lot of heat lately. Logan, I feel your pain though. Successfully trolled.
 
It's no surprise that many people read just the OP and no comments but in this thread, I almost wonder if some of those people who believed you were also trolling when they responded back in their awkward ways. It is like someone in class who is sleeping then wakes up from his own snoring and ask a stupid question he missed 5 minutes ago while watching the back of his eyelids!
 
Why is there so much hate on the olympics? I get the FIS doesn't really allow for a ton of creativity, but come on its a contest! there has to be a strict set of rules or else people would get pissed because judging would be too opinion based.

I mean there has to be something that when a competitor wins or looses he can go look at the judges card and see where the points fell and why. Someone who throws a triple cant loose, go up to the judges table, and be like why? only to be pointed to the fact that the Canadian judge though that someones zero spin was steezy as fuck. (sorry Canada)
 
Good post. There is so much variation in opinion in what competition should entail for free skiing. The Olympics happen to be at the extreme spectrum of one of the ends. It is when there is a true interlap between style and technicality, we can all dab together and enjoy some skiers throw down..

The real issue is obviously money and I do not have a solution for that at this time..
 
if the satire went over your head, and you don't know who Trennon is, you evidently are not informed enough to argue on the topic.

While personally the Olympics aren't for me, I'm stoked Trennon is at least voicing his opinion on the matter. The Olympics aren't black and white.
 
This is what I don't understand. Trust me, I'd rather watch a ski film than a competition any day but why hate on the olympics? The olympics are a huge opportunity for so many skiers in our sport and although it might not showcase my favorite aspect of freeskiing you can bet your ass I'm gonna be watching it. For the average park rat the olympics will literally have zero effect on your life. You can go lap your mountain's park just like you have for the past five years and not a damn thing will change. I just can't understand why anyone thinks that giving some of our idols the opportunity to be successful on a global scale is a bad thing.

And before anyone says its going to bring attention to the wrong part of freeskiing, shut the fuck up and think for just a minute. Are you gonna stop skiing park because a bunch of people around the world think its all about doing future spins? There will always be guys spinning to win and there will always be guys doing the most stylish tricks possible. If you can't handle both of those ideas of what freeskiing is existing simultaneously than maybe skiing just isn't for you. Hike some glades or go snow tubing if it will put you at ease. In the mean time I'm gonna keep skiing and rooting for freeskiers at the top of our sport who have the chance to make a name for themselves this winter in Sochi.

First off, Candide is sponsored, he has his own line of pro models, and why should he not be sponsored, he continues to progress the sport and is possibly the best skier ever.
 
It's all about ones and zero's. Huge worldwide market and potential to expand versus a small niche who enjoys freeskiing. We're outnumbered

Fuck you free skiing is about having your own style and skiing freely thats why i started skiing to sepeate from having rules.
 
Im thinking long term affect not short term.... and I am not the average park skier... I have put my whole life into skiing...make my living of of skiing and know the history of the sport.... so it would affect me more than the average skier.....
