im 5'7 155lb.. i want a ski pretty much for powder/bc, im gonna be skiing a lot of steeps and extremes. ill be heading out west quite a bit this coming winter and i know i'll be going to crested butte 3 or 4 times.i had in mind: sir francis bacons, JJ's, hellbents or maybe EP pros
how good could the ep pros be on the steeps if the snow gets packed?help me out!

my Bacons slayed in Montana and Utah. never ridden on any of the others but id recommend the Bacons to anyone

JJ's! you said you wanted a ski that could handle steeps? jj's are stiffer and better on steeps. they float super well, on the EC and obviously out west. no_steeze did a really good review on them, check it out.

you should probably get bentchetlers. they even rip groomers! and they are incredible in chowdah.

you wont be disappointed

I have the SFBs and love them, but use them for more of an all mountain ski than pure powder. As to your question, the EPs will most likely be squirelly on hardpack steeps, but super fun in powder. I would probably go with a more versatile ski, like the bentchetlers, JJs or bacons.

personally i like the hellbents. they can do it all, they rip on everything, i have even carved gs turns on groomer with them. and of course they are sick in pow

JJ: Slays pow, thats why tanner and provo rock these skis in pow. Only on 4+feet of fresh they use the ARG. The JJ's are stiff enough and carve better than everything other than the SFB. they are also fairly light so you can jump turn and manhandle them when you get in sketch situations.

EP Pro is no good for charging or skiing anything other than soft stuff.

Hellbent is too heavy and soft doest have the pivot point in pow like that of Reverse camber and sidecut. (The JJ does)

SFB will actually give you better all mountain performance than the others, they slay everything. But they are also the worst in the pow ( of the above skis), by a fair amount because they dont have reverse side cut or camber. They still kill it in the pow but the are not the ski-life changing skis that the others are in the pow. SFB's also are the best park ski by alot.

My rec is JJ's if don't plan on skiing much park. Otherwise go with the SFB because it is a one ski quiver and it kills the park, which is something youll want to check out, out west.

i would suggest jj's, bacons, ll2's, or bentchettlers, stay away from ep's or bents, if you like charging you will hate them so much

it depends. are you till growing? that might be a little too long, but it could also be perfect if you're charging a lot, and shred hard(which i get the sense that u are). so from what you say on your skiing ability, and agressivness, i think that that could be close to perfect.

have fun with those jjs!

They would work fine. rocker makes skis ski short, taper even shorter, and the large sidecut even shorterer. Your weight matters more than height as far as fear of being able to turn. Still though, JJs might seem too turny, they are a kinda jib ski. Chetlers are a little softer but straighter, and they accelerate like no other, and it is like they go even faster when turning. so fun(but feel short while charging and stomping cliffs at speed). BTW, I barely weigh more than you, and I like to both charge and hits large cliffs but also jib in pow and I got LL2s(charging will be better since they are 189s, and they still turn on a dime and are fun in park. They would be a great choice for you too)

I think I'm going to get Moment Night trains. They look super sick and from the moment catelogue they sound lik a really good all around ski
