Help on Rails

In the beginning of the season I learned rails which is huge for me. I could do them consistently but not confidently. I was working up to trying a sausage rail but attempting a short round rail. It was a rail I had to pop on which was different for me and I wiped out my first few times which is expected. I couldn't get it down. I took a month long break due to school. When I went again and tried rails all I did was lean back and land hard on my hop every time. I can't control it, I just lean back. What should I do? I send it but I can never actually do them.

Commit fully, the only way to stop leaning back is to lean forward. Rails are frustrating, but you'll get it.

Your problem may be your take off. Just like all the kids who land 360s backseat, if you have no shin pressure or spin on the axis of the lip, you will be off axis and back, thus resulting in you leaning back. So gather some shin pressure and pop straight up. Another tip is putting more weight on your front foot at first. It is a bad habit in the long run because you can catch an edge but it helps a ton with not slipping out.

Also which alpine valley do you ski at? there are 3 of them in the midwest and I live near the ohio one.
