Help on rails

hey guys im coming to you for advice. Im a fairly good skier , im pretty good at jumps. im not afraid of doing flips over big tables and stuff but there is one thing that is pissing me off. I suck balls at rails. I mean I can slide pretty much any thing that is put in front of me from that box 4 inches off the ground in the kiddie park to some pretty big urban rails. but i cant do anything else. I cant do switchups or any form of 270 or any other tricks on rails for that matter. I just dont feel them. Its like once my feet are on the rail they will stay there until they hit snow. I absolutely dont understand how someone can become good at rails .

tips and advices welcome

(I am aware I said i sucked balls at some point in my post dont get back to me on that one , its not litteral )

dude that sounds like me at the start of this year. what i did was skied with a few kids better than me and they helped me out a lot. here is what i can help you with (im still not very good but i got a few things i can do).

270 out- if you jump on the rail facing the left side of the rail, and you wanna spin to the right, just keep your chest pointed down the hill. This makes you come out forward, and to 270, just spin with your hands a little and you should pop off and spin. You just gotta make sure to spin with your hands and actually pop a little of the rail.

to spin the other way, just follow your bodies momentum and face your body backwards up the hill when your nearing the end of the rail. then pop/spin with your hands and you should 270 out that way too.

switch 270 on (i know its strange, but i can sw 270 on and not 270 regular haha- im working on it). come up to the rail switch with the rail inbetween your two feet. Wind up and pop when you get to the rail. make sure you go fast enough to actually get the full 270 rotation, and then when you land on the rail just make sure your centered and slide the rest of it. it takes a bit of work to get your body to stop spinning after the 270 on but it will come with practice.

i cant switch up or any of that man so i cant help you there, but this should get you started. One tip i have is to learn to slide rails unnatural. this helps with 270 ons and switchups!

if you hav eany more questions, you can message me b/c i may not check back to this thread, but good luck.

forgot to add- when you switch 270 try to look at the rail the whole time so you know when its coming.

What i used to do when i tryed 270 on, is i used to try and throw it wayy to hard and that caused me to fall. What i do now is i pop like a regular flat ground 180 and spot my landing and bring it around. idk if that helps you but works for me...

Rail tricks are in your head. Usually takes people a while to learn new things cause they are nervous. I would suggest getting on some boxes. Try 270 on. Try spinning while on the box. On some easy rails try some 270 outs. Just make sure they are rails and boxes you feel comfortable with and from there it's just getting your head to do it. If you want advice on any particular trick let me know and I'll help with what I can...
