Help on grab spins

So I can 9 but I can’t even do a 1 with a grab. I’m pretty decent at mutes and japans. Have never done a blunt grab. I was wondering if u guys have any tips on how to get at least a 3 with a grab

I learned to start out grabbing your leading side or just in a way that makes it so you don’t have to look opposite of your spin. So for example if you’re spinning left grab left safety. I tried grabbing blunt with my right hand on a left 3 and I looked behind myself basically stopping my rotation.

Yo this is actually me.

i find even trying to pull my legs up stops my rotation which is weird.

My 3s are really consistent and I can do them in my sleep, but as soon as I attempt a grab with it I just stop.

I’ll try to keep my head going around thanks guys (even though it’s not my thread).

I think the biggest thing imo, is finding your go to grab. I really like tail grabs and mute grabs, but i got friends who can only do japans, and some just do noses and truckdrivers.

Lead tail/blunt is the easiest to spin with for me. If you spin left just hold your left hand out and pick both tails up. Doesn’t slow your spin down and minimal consequence if you miss

3 tips that helped me when I was learning:

Remember to breathe out before hitting the lip of the jump, much easier to be relaxed and flexible in the air without two huge full airbags in your chest getting in the way.

Bring your feet to your hands not the other way, it'll help you stay steady in the air.

Set the spin then go for the grab.

Big facts on the breathing

I find I can only grab on a spin if I focus on staying really compact / balled up. If I pull my legs up and ball up immediately then I can get the grab. If I'm lazy and just come into the spin relaxed / neutral it's impossible to grab. Also I must be weird because I find it easiest to grab with my trailing hand since I'm right handed, spin left, and right hand safety is my easiest most natural grab. I don't need to look at my ski to grab it so it doesn't throw my rotation off in any way.

never ever thought about that but now I think about it, it makes so much sense. Looking forward to trying that.
