Whats up NS, I could really use your help!

My sister has been nominated for IPC athlete of the month and I would be stoked if you took a minute of your time to vote for her.

The International Paralympic Committee has an athlete of the month every month, recently my sister was competing at a NORAM race in Copper Colorado, and she absolutely dommed everyone and took home 4 Gold Medals!

This is her first successful season back after a terrible leg break 3 years ago, she had to have it rebroken because it didn't set right, have 2 surgeries, and was in a wheelchair for a whiiile, she has worked so hard for the past 3 YEARS to get here and nobody deserves it more than her!

Please take 1 minute of your time to GO TO THIS PAGE, LIKE IT, AND VOTE FOR ALEXANDRA STARKER:

voted. best of luck to her.

She's a left arm amputee below the elbow, she uses a prosthetic arm most of the time so it seems like she's able-bodied from the picture but it is a bitch for balance/poling purposes, nevermind crossblocking gates in slalom which is her favorite event. If you look closely at the picture you might notice that her left arm looks a little weird which is because its about 60% plastic haha! She has no wrist mobility on her prosthetic arm too which is another challenge.

Might seem unfair when categories for the racers are standing, sitting and blind, but other skiers in her category (such as leg amputees and people with Cerebral Palsy etc) get a huge handicap and she gets almost none, so her run times are pretty much the actual time without adjustment. And strangely enough, leg amputees can absolutely slay slalom courses because a lot of the time they only need to transfer weight from edge to edge, not ski to ski so they can run smoother and faster turns.

And if anyone else has any questions about disabled skiing I would be happy to answer anything I can! Its a pretty cool world, lots of interesting and inspirational people involved.

(Karma for all)

super sick and voted but it looks like her votes are getting swayed so hard right now (which they are) and i feel like its kind of an unfair thing to sway votes. I hope they dont notice and boot her

Done. My dad was a ski tuner/waxer for the paralympic ski team in vancouver. Plus the U.S. Paralympic ski team always came to my elementary school when i was younger, so i have always loved it. Sweet that your sister is killing it.

She's kicking arse. Voted for her; good luck! and send our best wishes! Props to her for being so determined and for healing up well after her leg break, and for being a role model for everyone with a disability :)

Thank you all so much!

Keep em coming, she's leading by a fair bit but one of the other competitors is catching up rapidly, the contest ends on the 7th so lets make sure she stays in the lead!

You're all at 10/10, I will be beyond stoked if she wins.
