Help me with A.T. ski boots

Hello guys,

I'm hesitating between 3 boots models. Since they are 2020/21 model, there is not much review on the internet so I'm asking you guys to help me make a good decision.

I'm quite new to A.T. and I do most of my ski in resort but still want to do more A.T.

Here my 3 models I'm looking for :

Lange XT3 120

Full Tilt Ascendant Approach

Dalbello Lupo AX120

I've heard review that the Lupo are not very tough and get used very quickly.

Thanks for your help !!!

The dalbello ax 120 and FT ascendant approach are grilamid which is lighter weight but isn't as durable as PU. the xt3s are made of PU which is more durable. you can get the dalbello lupo pro or FT ascendant sc if you want them in PU

Yet the XT3 weighs significantly less than an ascendant.

The ascendant is good if and only if you really like how a descendant fits and skis. Its heavy as fuck and tours like shit compared to the other two.

XT3 skis way better than the others, but I'm also partial to how overlap boots and in particular langes, ski.

Lupo tours better than the other two and it isn't close. Ski ok too.

I would have to disagree and say that the new XT3 tours better than the Lupos. The Lange in my opinion is definitely the best of the 3, having owned the Ascendant and the Lupo. The Ascendant and Lupo both walk sort of eh and you need to fiddle with the tongues to get the most out of the boots which gets really annoying (I didn’t think it would, but after a few tours I was fed up). I would say try them on if you can before you buy.

This makes me feel good about ending up in xt3s when I had been eying lupos all summer lol

Don't count out the salomon shift 130s if you've got a flipper foot like I do. Great heel hold, skis super well, accommodates a fat forefoot. Moldable shell is super nice.

I don't know much about the Full Tilts or the Dalbellos. I tried on the 2019/2020 Lange XTs and while they were comfortable, they were heavy and had less range of motion than many other AT-capable boots. Unless you know there was a major redesign, I would go by the reviews from the previous season's model. They were considered more of a downhill boot that could do some side-country or AT.

I ended up with Atomic Hawx XTD 120s that are considered more of a 50/50 boot. No regrets. I was bracing to have blisters or other foot issues on my first trip with them, but they were perfect!

I tried on those 3 and landed on Salomon Shift Pro 130, which I now have for sale (essentially new...used < 4 hrs), size 26.5...check out my listing...make me a reasonable offer

Out of curiosity what was it that you weren't crazy about?

It's funny, I was crazy about them...I love the boots. They fit my 100mm last mid-volume foot perfectly and securely, right out of the box without needing heat mold of the liner or shell. BUT, I bought the boot to replace my Deeluxe Track 325 hardboot and the Shift Pro was just too stiff and upright to ride on my alpine snowboard setup, even after adjusting binding cant angle and inserting some heel lifts. I ride a Winterstick Wescott 160 with Catek OS2 binding.
