Help me quit smoking

Literally just do it. When you want a cig don't smoke one. GRadually the cravings get better and eventually go away. Pretty much resisting any urge to smoke "just one" or "a few drags" after that.

Good for you. I have heard nicorette stuff works. Perhaps slowly limit your self until you are smoking 2 a week kinda thing?

Just stop buying them, and change to vaping nicotine or even weed. People say vaping is still probably bad for you but there’s not a ton of fucked chemicals in the juice so.

Patches and gum will help. Or your doctor could prescribe you Chantix or wellbutrin. Those seem to help a lot of people. Much higher success rates than cold turkey. Vaping isn't much better, but at least you won't smell like shit or have bad teeth from it

i got gnarly bronchitis that almost hit pneumonia. Missing a comp and 2 weeks of skiing did it for me.

This happened to my mom except she got pneumonia. Was in the hospital for 3 days when I was young.

22 years a smoker and goes cold turkey.

She does claim though once she turns 85 shes gonna start again.

Set goals and reward yourself. Like after x many days go out and eat your favorite food or whatever.

Dont drink excessively. Esp if you casually smoked more when drunk

Gum, toothpicks, candy

Bro get a JUUL. sure you're trading addictions but I used to smoke cigs and the juul makes me sick even looking at cigs now

There are apps that track days since last cig, money saved, time added to lifespan, etc. that might provide motivation

Yeah totally forgot that you save a TON of money by quitting. If you're a 1 pack per day smoker, that equates to $2-4k per year depending where you live.

Take up working out in a gym. I know someone who that helped.

An elder fella told me that you can smoke herb, just some bunk shit that is basically hemp that won't get you high. This will fulfill your desire to go out for a smoke but you can get away from the addictive nicotine.

A guy I work with did Chantix. He said he felt like he might go completely insane at any given moment, but at least he didn't feel like having a cigarette.

Wow, that sounds painful. But don't forget about the time value of money.... If you're 25 that's like $160,000 at the age of 60, $320,000 at the age of 67

Everyone here is saying juul but they're still insanely addictive. If you're looking for a cigarette substitute go with juul, but if you looking to quit any kind of smoking all together, seek another method.

Fun story: my friend dropped acid and while he was tripping decided to quit smoking. Dude quit cold turkey the next day and claims he hasn't had a craving since.

I can attest to juul being addicting AF. I've tried quitting it a few times but I always come back for more! that being said when I decide to finally quit it will be cold turkey and the juul will go straight to the dumps battery recycling center

go to craigslist casual encounter section and make a posting. Everytime you feel the need to smoke, just go suck a dude off, soon your brain will make the association with blowing a guy and soon you'll stop smoking permanently.

disclaimer: does not work on gays or straight women

I went through this to some extent, and found a few things that really helped. Having one person (female coworker friend) to bust my ass and keep me honest kept my mind from wandering too far from the goal. It wasn't anything serious and there was no punishment for slipping up, just a way to keep tabs and keep myself honest. The other thing was to start with nicotine gum, work down to the weaker kinds of nicotine gum, after a couple months I phased that out to chewing regular gum without noticing too much. Honestly once you start to have a more regular blood pressure, are a little calmer at baseline, and notice that it's easier to exercise, it gets easy to keep away from nicotine in general.

Hope that helps. Pce

nah. i smoked half a juul pod once which is equal to like half a pack of cigerettes and i stopped the next day and never did it again, and i never felt the need for nicotine

That's not really how addiction works but okay.

juuls are pricey. juuls have high nic. Your not gonna stop wanting nicotine and being able to vape indoors and places where smoking might not be acceptable. It's going to be just as expensive if not more and you're not gonna stop craving for it.

Just start cutting down. Say you can only have one once a day. Then once every few days until you have cut down to where you want to be.

Smoke more weed, at least that's what helped me to quit.

Also, hard menthol bonbons all day long for the first couple of weeks helped a ton for me...

I do hope you've not been smoking this year! For somebody who've just decided to quit too, I have some pieces of advice:)

According to my experience, it took 3 years in general. I either cut off smoking at once or reduced the number of cigarettes gradually but still started smoking after a while. Finally, I couldn't stand the fact of addiction and decided to "forget" about cigarettes once and for all.

Firstly, I started to take a break separate from the coworkers who smoked. It's important to reduce an opportunity even to smell cigarette smoke at an early stage.

Secondly, and it's not my credit, I was presented a vaporizer for my birthday. I've never believed it could help quit smoking but vaping became a crucial step in my fight. If it's intolerable to abandon a habit, at least you can make it less harmful. That was the best present because I finally stopped suffering and avoiding parties, people, and cigarette smoke.

Unfortunately, there are a looot of other techniques I didn't know before. And there are a lot of sites full of useful information. For example, this is a nice article "for beginners"https://vapingdaily.com/quit-smoking/ However, keep looking, there are a lot of great forums and people who are ready to help!

Now I know, non-smoking is possible and pleasant if you know what to do!

Try vape instead. Trust me, it totally helps. At first you can get vape juice with nicotine, then slowly switch to the stuff without nicotine.

Just stop buying packs and smoke more weed, it worked for me- that's as if you have an unlimited access to sweet dank priced for cheap.

You betcha. People with accounts looking exactly like yours post on a daily spamming stuff here. First post. No other posts since. No picture. No profile info. Links posted inside a paragraph that sounds like a late night infomercial.

I quit last year after going through a pack a day. Then went back to work 5 months and picked up right where I started. Work is my fucking trigger.

Smoked a lot of dope the time I was off the cig. Also figured out that I am a straight up addict for weed and used cigs as a crutch when Im sober.

I did the training program. Ski everyday for 830 to 4pm, hike at least 8km a, ran the streets for 3-5km day and the need to tobacco really wore off. It was at a point I would hit a few drags and put it out because the feeling of my lungs burning and throat tightening up was unbearable. After a week, I would simply forget to smoke.

Last year I even slowed right down on the weed. Going for an oz every 10 days to a half oz in the same time. Skiing got me in crazy good cardio shape and I was happy as fuck.

switch to xanax. but being serious, i've never done well with tapering down. my opinion would be to do it cold turkey. and think of how gross a wet, squished filter is
