why would you ever buy a new truck at 19 yrs old?

like come on get something good like an evo or sti or 350.

or shit if he wants something new and a pickup do what i did (i'm 19 too) , buy a genesis coupe (so sick) and buy a beater pickup ($1000)

anyway to the original poster:

totally get a subaru!!!!!!!! ZOMG SUBARU!!! like a WRX OH MY GOD SOOOOO SICK.... seriously SO SICK. if its not a subaru its a piece of shit, complete garbage

Basically an American Subaru, without the reliability. And Ford doesn't sell it in the states, but try to find one!

yes but if i had 25k to spend i would definitely by a used STi. but i'd still definitely consider mazda foreign. ford doesn't necessarily own them, they get a lot of ideas and use the same engine components though. oh and my mom drives a honda dave.

Why would you blow $25k when you don't even know what kind of car you want? Sounds like working in union is a perfect fit. Good luck paying it off in a year too.

if all you guys who love subarus so much knew what it was like to work on one you wouldn't love them anymore. Plus they understeer like a motherfucker.

Toyota's are 99% manufactured in the US, more than any american car. If you want to "buy american" you are doing more good for the country by supporting their employees than the big corporations that export their manufacturing.

Not until January 1st. Still GM and if he is spending 25k, then one that is a year or two old would be more realistic.

Haha ok man, whatever you say. I love to work on my subaru. Currently doing a STi EJ257 swap with my WRX EJ205 heads, will be upgrading to a new top mount, injectors, blouch 18g turbo, tranny upgrades... I have a whole list.

With a few suspension upgrades its a whole new car as well. They are not that hard to work on, very simple. The only thing that sucks is you have to pull the motor to access the heads but that isn't too big of a deal.

tldr: you're wrong.

^Not to mention driving a manual on a STi is so much different then a regular manual. You have to revmatch and double clutch or "heel-toe" shift...and if you don't you can say goodbye to your transmission really fast.

i get paid 21$ an hour and i still live at home and i have 6k for the down payment. whatever money i make will go right into the car. and why the fuck not blow 25k on a car. even if i dont like it, it still wont be that bad.
and to everyone else im not getting an sti sorry.

no, he clearly stated hes an Idiot. I'm not reading this whole thread...I dont care about what other people say he should get. He should get an outback because they are the most practical/legit car ever produced.

So,

GET AN OUTBACK IN MANUAL

wait, is that actually true?

i mean it doesnt seem very practical to make a car that REQUIRES you to revv match unless you want a busted transmission.

I mean i know how to do it, i try to do it sometimes when im driving, but its a bitch to do (especially when you arent used to it)

If you want your synchros to last and you aren't driving the car like an old man, then yes it is true. Some people can have an STi last for up to 50-75k without blowing out their synchros, but for how they are designed to be driven it will be really hard on your tranny if you aren't rev matching. The two most common techniques for rev matching as I said earlier are double clutching and "heel-toe".

"i mean it doesnt seem very practical to make a car that REQUIRES you to revv match unless you want a busted transmission. "

How is this not practical? The STi isn't a regular Joe Schmoe car, it is a high performance automobile. It is made to drive like a rally/race car and it is expected that it will be driven that way as well. If you drive it like you're supposed to then the tranny will do what it should, and you should be rev matching.

the synchros usually are the first to go in any transmission. All it really means is the tranny wasn't designed to handle that much power. Fuck subys they are highly overrated. If your looking to get a performance compact car and your thinking of getting an sti your crazy if you choose that over an evo.

Lol why? The american car industry is a big joke, Why if they build such excellent cars did they go to shit? The stuff they build is just retarded. For example why does a work van need a big gas guzzling V8 when a smaller diesel engine can produce just as much torque and much more efficently. I'm never buying American.

i've driven 2 evos and one sti, all but one were straight off the showroom floor, and they weren't really that much to handle, i think you are exaggerating a lot. unless your talking about taking the car and dancing with the limit of the cars ability, but for daily driving, and the occasional blast up little cottonwood canyon they were very noobie friendly.

It's because straight off the showroom floor they are running rich and undertuned. Anyone that has a STi will AT LEAST Stage 1 tune it, which will give it noticeably more power and throttle response. Plus, if you are just daily driving an STi you get a WRX. The STi is a pretty crappy ride compared to the WRX, so if you are only going to do the "the occasional blast" you are wasting your money. And yes, I was referring them being too much to handle at WOT at full performance when you are redlining the engine, doing curves or whatever. I wasn't referring to it being too much to handle when you are just DD the car.

And to the guy who posted about the transmission, the synchos don't go because the tranny isn't designed the handle the power. Quite the opposite actually, the synchros go because the tranny isn't designed to be torque shocked from the engine drastically downshifting and switching RPMs. Hence why you rev match.

Definitely go with a Pontiac G8 Gxp, best american made car IMO, great engine, transmission, everything.

Similar to that but in 2 door would be the Camaro but idk if you'd want that, however if that does interest you I would get the Mustang. A lot of people on this site hate them but the new ones look awesome and are better than the Camaro in everything but a straight line

The chevy cobalt ss is a great car but not that much of a looker and they should be replacing it with another car soon that looks way better

And if you want a Jeep they now make the SRT8 Jeep (I think it's a Liberty) which is stupid fast in a jeep

There may be others but those are what are on the top of my head good luck choosing though, with 25k you will get a great car
