Help me pick a car!

Alright im looking to buy a brand new or certified used car. i have a limit of about 25k dollars. im buying this myself because i have a good job and im taking a year off of school to pay this baby off in a year and do some traveling and stuff like that.
now i am having the hardest time trying to pick something so any suggestions and reasons why would be fantastic.
here is a catch though. it has to be an american car company.

But yes you need to tell us your preferences and what you want to do with it. You have tons of options.
 
well because im joining the insulators union and my dad has this thing about it too
as for preferences id say more on the luxury side if i could but honestly im down with anything sweet. from a cadillac to a huge ass truck
 
Technically GM does have shares in Subaru although Fuji Industries is the main owner, so kind of American hence the new Saab's looking exactly like imprezas.
 
Shit with that you still have a ton of options. If I were you I would look for a slightly used Chevy Silverado diesel. Get a crew cab and you'll never run out of room. However you may have some trouble getting used to a big truck if you havent already.
I reccamend the diesel though cuz it gets better gas mileage than the gas engines. You can get up to 20 or more with the diesel compared to the smaller V8s, with the same or more power.
Trucks are fun though. Best driving memories I've had are with trucks.
 
GM sold out their shares in 2006, but nowadays everyone has shares in everything. The Saab Aero 9-2x was a kinda exclusive thing for GM to make a "plush" WRX.

Anyways, for luxury, I would look at a used Cadillac CTS. For 25g's you could get a really nice one and it would have some engine power and lots of luxury/class.
 
if i were to buy a car costing that much it would be as new a Chevy Avalanche i could get for that much. (probably pretty new)
 
Better yet, Dodge Ram 1500 SRT10

Basically it's a pick up truck with a Viper engine in it.

check cars.com there are like 12 for sale under 25K
 
ehhh, not so much, you have to really do work for those to look good, plus everyone else's is modded the hell out so you cant be unique
 
Your options would be endless if you didnt have to buy american.

its not like buying non-american is going to change the world in any way

Sure some american cars can suck, but there are still quite a few good ones out there

There are a lot of quality american cars on the market. People like you just like to piss on them to make themselves feel better about their decision to buy a econoshitbox from somewhere else.

There are just as many crappy foreign cars as there are crappy american ones.

Or you could just get an old bronco and lift it and put big ass tired on it. And paint it spray camo

I have a question (sorry for the thread jack)

My parents want to get rid of a car, and get a new car. We bought a condo in Stratton so we need something with space and something with good gas mileage.

So I want the Suby impreza WRX, its great in the snow, its good decent room (we dont need an enormous car...), but it doesnt get the best gas mileage. how do i convince them? or is there another car, like the impreza, that gets better gas mileage
 
A WRX doesn't get great gas mileage because they run rich from the factory. You can get what is considered a "Stage 1" engine tune, which causes it to run with a little more power and will increase its mileage because it will then run closer to the stoichiometric Air/Fuel ratio. This will net you around 30 mpg on the highway.

If they don't need the power though I would just go with a regular impreza, slightly better gas mileage and actually run better at low speeds because they have a 2.5L engine so they have more torque and you aren't relying on Turbo spool.
 
Since you are a skier I would say get a jeep Grand Cherokee if you have to be stubborn. If you are willing to change the whole american thing. 1. Subaru WRX or the new 2010 outback. 2. Mitshubishi Lancer 3. Audi A3 and if you are stilling being stubborn and dont want a non american car. Get a chrysler 300C that is all wheel drive and put a ski rack on it. That would be bad ass.

my friend got a Chevy 2500 loaded ext cab for 30,000 brand new, fucking epic truck and he bought it at just 19
