Help me!! hellbents or EP Pro's?

i know this could be under equipment but i'm about to buy some skis and i looked at them yesterday. 189 hellbents or the EP Pros? i'm 6'4 200 lbs help please!!!! hard decision
 
personally i would go ep pros. the hellbents are relitively heavy and i would imagine the ep pros being more fun due to the shape and uber soft flex.
 
the ep graphic is so tight i think your right. but its hard to get style points being tall and the hellbents look a little more natural cuz they are longer. anyone skied either of them
 
You are very big and tall. A stiffer, longer ski woul dbe good for you. The weight of the ski ski won't effect you because you are so tall, and weigh enough that you will have some power behind your skiing. I am 165 and 6'2 and the 189 Made'ns felt a little short for me at times last year.

It does depend on your skiing ability too though, where do you ski and how would you describe yourself as a skier?
 
i ski in Utah so pow is very accessible and happens a lot. i have ARV's already for all mt. and park i just want a big fat ski. i think your right. i ski really aggressive drop cliffs huck fronts, like building backcountry booters. so 189 felt small huh? you feel like you could use more length
 
They are going ski fairly differently. The Hellbents have insan-o rocker, and the EP Pro is just "early-rise". Personally, because you're a big guy, I'd go with the Hellbent. You'll notice a lot more float in those I think than the EPs. Plus you can probably use all the length you can get.

If you're doing lots of lots of aggressive cliff drops and hucking, you may want to consider a stiffer ski, but of the two you're picking from now, I'd go Hellbent.
 
at your size a mojo 103 would be a soft pow ski. But yeah if you want a soft pow ski like the bents or EP pros go with the 189 bents. still not a charging ski. but maybe look at the biggest praxis ski. I think they have a 195 or something.
 
its a win win situation but i was thinking. if pep and andy mahre ski pc with the 179 hellbent and they are like 5'8 around that and i'm taller than them it would make sense to get the 189. i measured them at the shop yesterday and from tip to tail on the ep it is really like 182. the hellbent 179 is 183 so the 189 hellbent would really be like 193 right? need more input have to order them soon
 
yeah probably right. its just ive worked my ass off this summer delivering pizzas don't wanna go wrong. that ski has got some sick dimensions
 
First off, the 138 comes in 192, not 195. Secondly, he wants a playfull soft ski for BC booters, not a big mountain style pow ski. Thirdly the 138 is really fucking expensive. A 195 praxxis would be better in that respect, but then again, he's not really looking for that type of ski.
 
yeah i'm lookin for more of a bc booter ski. pow pow pow is da best i'm thinkin the 189 hellbent i just hope my mom will ski with me still because of the graphic
 
Then just get used JPs. Kids ready to drop over half a G on a ski based purely on hype. Redunculous. I'd have to claw my fucking eyes out if I had to look at that graphic all day.
 
Seth Morrison calls the EP Pros snowblades (he is sponsored by k2 but he knows whats up). Hellbents are the sickest ski in history.

hell bents graphics are nasty. just look at the edit of pep and andy at park city on the idea website. they look super fun. and you can ski pow with them. i want the 179s
 
yea, the 189 seemed short sometimes. But I'm sure with the added waist dimension, it won't be a problem with the hellbent.

The EP pro "early rise" and the Hellbent rockers aren't that much different, for the record. I have been able to mess around with both skis. The Hellbent rocker is a little more dramatic, and it starts a little earlier,, but not much. The bigger design difference is the tapered tip on the Ep pros. The hellbents still have a normal shape, where the EP pros have a tip that begins to taper away from the sidecut curve a little before the tip and tail actually start to bend up for the shovel (this doesn't start before the ski bend up for the rocker, just to clarify)
 
are pep and maher using 179 in the park city vid? they look huge, like the 189 but maybe its just me.
 
Im 5'10 165 im going for EP pros. The two have been described to me as follows: The Hellbent is the more versatile of the two. If you are charging the resort, hitting jumps and being all around, the hellbent is for you. The EP is more favorable for stomping in pow, and riding completely untracked snow. For the record I no longer spend much time at the resort...

But in regards to your post--- being 200 pounds means the EPs are out of the question. Unless you suck at skiing and cannot charge a line, the EPs will be floppy and all over the place and nearly impossible to hold a line. $0.02
 
Or they ski the mountain differently and aren't looking to mach a line...

Forbid anyone who skis the mountain differently and likes a different style ski.
