okay, so i just bought a macbook today, and i was stoked to get home and get our wireless internet as our pc laptop gets it just fine. but then when i get into safari it says i cant connect.

i then go to network diagnostics and it says that the network requires a WEP password.

I don't know why this is necessary because our other laptop never needed a password, but it's a pc and not a mac. but if someone could help me find out where to locate this password i would really appreciate it.

it could be as easy as clicking the little airport thing up top, going to join other network and then typing in the name of your network you currently have?

well one available network was found, and it is the same network that our other laptop operates on, except this time we need a password for it, and nobody knows it

You just need the password, you laptop probably just has the password saved hence why you don't have to put one in. As soon as you get it, your mac will save it.

Wrong thing to do, its obviously his internet he needs to contact not apple, his computer is fine. Don't just find threads about macs and post this in every thread, which you do.

if you have original information for your router (which you HOPEFULLY kept), you can go onto a browser on someone elses computer, input information/ change the password/ find it out. its pretty easy to do

i dnk about you but on mine the verizon rouder on the sticker that also contains the serial number the WEP password is also on it. thats where you can find it.

is the wi-fi router yours? if not, good luck finding the password, unless you go ask your neighbor

best bet is to go buy yourself a router and hook it up to your internet connection

man get airport express.

actually get the new time capsule, has it built in, RAD

man im loving all these mac questions in NSG as of late
