Help me design badass new bindings for my senior thesis by filling out this QUICK survey

So, my senior thesis (Industrial/product Design) is rolling around this spring, and I've chosen, obviously, to design something related to skiing. Id really like to focus on high performance bindings that are knee-safe, as traditional bindings blow knees all the time.

I have a quick little survey that should take no more than a few minutes, and it would help me greatly if you guys could fill it out and or pass it on/bump it up.

I appreciate the help, feel free to post any additional comments or suggestions!

done, but heres knee friendly, the wonderful, awesome looking knee binding!!

i feel like you have some good idaes however i think that the ability to change between skis creates problems as far as the binding staying in the ski...and for a self resseting heel piece i think that it would be good for rental skis not a high performance binding
but good luck deff share the results with us

Definatly make a binding thats easy to fix. I hate having to fuss with or pay for a shop to do something simple like fix a broken brake. (though I don't know if this is a major concern of your design)

thanks a ton NS. yea its not a pay account, so it caps out at 100 entries. i very well might change it so more of you guys can do it.

but yea, got alot of good info there.

while im obviously not really too far into the actual design, ive been workin on a totally different style heelpiece pivot that should provide tons of elasticity so you dont have to run a super high din to hold you in, and it has lateral release to keep the knees intact. best part, its all metal, and only has a few parts.

as for brakes, i have a rough concept for brake arms that can be slid in or out to set them up for different width skis, and they are going to be able to flip flop from / position to \ position so they dont break when they come down switch.

ive got lots of other ideas, but ill get around to those when i have good drawings i can show ya all. thanks again for the help, ill keep ya posted as it comes along.

is there anything else you guys would like to see? features/functions?

look at snowboards, you can switch those things up super fast... skis should just come pre drilled and they should just make bindings that would work with that, wouldnt be hard.

Figure out some way to make the tracks less destructible or easy to change and get ahold of. I hate blown tracks then frankensteining a binding to make it work

yea i already know about reactors, but they need to improve on that model and shit. im sure if they pre drilled holes correctly in all skis you could put a rossi or look binding on there, companies just need to work together

haha ski companies are far from standardizing... technology is the BIGGEST create of consumer desire. Don't expect any ski companies to work together, unless they buy each other out..
