im about to graduate HS so for a grad present i get a comp, im thinking of getting a manc, cause ive heard about how theyre good for art stuff, and just an overall good comp. im going to be an engineering major, so i plan on haveing a couple of programs on there to do with engineering. any help is appreciated, (is mac righ t for me? and if it is Mac book, or pro?)

thanks a lot

I think it all depends on what programs you will be needing to use. If you don't know already, I would contact the school and see what programs engineer majors use and ask what computer would fit you best. If you find that a mac would best fit your needs and you are willing to spend a few hundred dollars more I would definitely get the macbook pro. A macbook would serve you fine as well though, just a little slower in running some programs.

i have some friends who are engineering majors, architects, etc...they love the mac it is very fast for that..but one thing you will need is paralells. so you can run windows programs on your mac...programs such as autodesk and auto cad are windows..and not offerded for OSX...mac can do anything you want it to do if you have the right tools..

i think im gonna go mac, cause there is way more stuff u can do with them, and i can run windows which ill probally need to do.

but now macbook or pro?

I'm an engineering major with a mac and it is fantastic. You can get all the programming software you'll need for it, through anything but as mentioned above. autocad does not come for macs, but your school will have tons of computers with autocad on it that you can use and you don't use it for everything and if worse comes to worst you can just use a friends pc that has autocad.

ya im going to a community college and if i like engineering still im going to try to transer to a better engineering school. but do u have a pro or just a mac book?
