Help me create a list of camera gear for my film class!!

Hey NSers, got a question for you. My film 2 teacher (in highschool) asked me to come up with a list of good cheap camera equipment, including cameras (probably DSLR's), mics, and misc. equipment.

Our price range is hopefully $500-600 or less for the camera+lens combo, and hopefully less than $200 for the mic. and if there's any other gear or things you can think of that we should get let me know.

Any, have to make this quick, but what would you guys suggest for gear?

Oh and we were planning on buying maybe 3-4ish of these "camera combos", if that makes a difference.

This, but perhaps a cheaper mic so that you have money left for a 50mm 1.8, a must have lens.

If it's an actual film class, I definitely wouldn't cheap out on audio. Bad audio will ruin your film before bad video does
