So, this entire summer I've been working to save for college, and I've got some extra money for myself so I decided to treat myself to a trip to New York City. This is particularly exciting for me because even though I only live just hours north of the Big Apple, I've never actually been there, and I'm coming to you NS to make a few suggestions for a 18 year old to do in the city. I get the typical stuff Grand central, Times Square, Central Park etc. but I'm gonna be there for a week so please anyone know anyone or anything that I shouldn't miss while I'm there please let me know! Money isn't an issue.

Where are you planing on staying/ do you have a fake ID? I'm guessing no? There is so much to do I work/live down here and i feel like I've only seen 5% of the city at best.

^If youre looking for a view go to top of the rock (top of Rockefeller center), do that over the empire state building. Empire is open really late at night with is cool if you meet a chick and want to take her up.

Check out a baseball game citi is super east to get to via the & train, yankees is super easy to get to via the MTA since they re-did the lines. As a mets fan im partial but Citi is better IMO and you can get seems cheep for under 10 usually under 5 on stubhub.

youre going to have to do the touristy stuff grand central/times square...etc. The library by Bryant park is mind blowing

Go down to the village/soho/canal street

If you want a laugh go to BK williamsburg, park slope...

A bunch of cool places to shop/awesome stores

Eat a lot of food/street food is great here. IDK if there is anywhere else in the world with an many food carts. Within 3 blocks of my boj at lunch there could be 10 carts/trucks to eat at.

Not sure if you smoke or if youre going to be with your parents but go to some museums. Such a great way to spend a day MOMA, natural histury, met are the usually main 3 biggest ones.

Staten Island ferry is free which is a cool thing to do if youre down town. There are allways free concerts around, maybe check out a play on broadway-there are places to get 'cheep' tickets

you could take the LIRR to a bus to jones beach if you want to check of the beach for a day/

so much stuff to do. Just walk around and get lost-the city (manhattan) is super safe, where you will most likely bee so there's no need to be worried about getting lost and walking around.

 
I live in nyc so hopefully i can offer you a few cool things to do.

1. Go to governors island. Its a really cool place to check out. Its open on the weekend and its like a 5 minute ferry ride from the tip of manhattan.

2. If you have a fake and want to go clubbing check out Hudson Terrace, yotel, and lavo.

3. Not sure how much money you have to spend but if you want to go to some good restaurants try out Shun Lee, and Atlantic Grill in lincoln center. Cafe el Portal in soho. Genes italian restaurant on like 14th and 5th and union square cafe.

4. For Daytime stuff go for a bike ride. There are all these bike rental places along the west side bike path that are cheap, and its a really nice bike path. They just finished it. Baterry park is also really nice to go to as well as the more obvious places like central park. Coney Island can also be a fun place to go to as a day trip.

5. Go to museums too. The metropolitan museum of art is awesome. Same with the natural history museum.

7. The highline park which is in the meatpacking district is also a cool place to check out and there are a lot of good restaurants and stuff around in that area too.

if you have a fake ID attempt to go out to any number of bars so many that are awsome (pm for details)

Also sparks steakhouse ( the one famous mobster was killed in) amazing.

 
If you want to get some DANK sliders (mini burgers) Hit up POP BURGER. They have a few around town. Easiest one to find IMO is the one near Pulitzer Square on the lower east side of central park. right next to FAO Schwarz and the apple store on East 58th street. Also if your into running, its always fun to run across the brooklyn bridge. easily one of my favorite runs ive ever did. South Street Seaport to Brooklyn via the bridge.

Natural History museum is pretty badass. Once you pay to get in you can take free tours which are sick and they tell you cool facts plus you can dip out of the tour whenever you want. The rocks and minerals section is incredible.
 
Since you're going to be here for a week you can hit a lot of things. Definately do the touristy stuff -

The museums on 5th Ave

Walk across the Brooklyn Bridge and have pizza at Grimaldi's then ice cream on the dock. walk around DUMBO then jump on the A or the C train back to Manhattan.

Take the Staten Island Ferry (its free) for a close up look at the Statue of Liberty

You can go down to the World Trade Center and check out the new tower but you have to get tickets to see the memorial weeks in advance. While you are down there head east and check out the South Street Seaport.

Dont spend more than 15 minutes in Times Square.

Def Check out the Highline but go on a weekday. The weekends it gets packed and its a pain in the balls to walk.

Shopping -

Everyone likes to go to Soho but after years of tourists flocking there it is just filled with the same stores you'll find in the local mall. There is still some good stores there, they are just off the sidestreets of Broadway. The East & West Villages have some good stuff you just have to hunt around.

Outside of Manhattan -

Check out a Yankee or Met game even if you're not a big baseball fan. Brooklyn you can check out Williamsburg, Dumbo or Greenpoint. Queens check out Long Island City (thats my hood).

Food -

Sushi - Naka Naka on West 17th Street (its at the entrance to the Highline kinda).

Mexican - Rosa Mexicana in Union Square

Seafood - Southstreet Seaport

Italian - Frank (East Village)

BBQ - Dino BBQ on West 125th street in Harlem. (its safe)

Other than that just pick a neighborhood and walk it. East Village is always good as is the Lower East Side. The West Willage, Upper West Side etc....

Also dont get in the pedicabs or the black Lincoln town cars that pull up when you are trying to flag down a cab. They will rip you off. Try and avoid the subway after 9 -10:00 at night. It doesnt run on a regular schedule and you will be standing there waiting forever.

Oh! I doubt you'll make it up this far but on 189th and Broadway is the best pizza i have ever had. Place is call Pizza Delia II, its simply perfect.
 
Not true. Shit gets safer, and new fun places come to take it's place. That's how always happens.

Go get some good food, go to a hookah shop, and buy drugs. I lived an hour from Grand Central and that's what everyone did in the city in my town
 
I do indeed have a fake, so I plan on checking out a few clubs at least one or two of the nights, I wanna hit up Tom's restaurant too (huge seinfeld fan), thanks for the suggestions everybody! Hopefully I can get a full itinerary and can make the most of this week!

Anyone in the Manhattan/Brooklyn area who wants to maybe spend a day blazing/tripping and showing me around the city PM I could see that potentially being seriously fun.
