Help Crocheting

So before everyone tells me off for not using the search bar, I've already done that and it's not helpful.

I'd like to refresh my memory on how to crochet hats (I was never very good). Could anyone give me some advice/links/videos etc? I've tried getting into the crocheting cult but have had no luck so far (if someone could explain why no one gets in anymore more that would be nice too). I'm really just looking to make hats for skiing and wearing around and I haven't found much ingot on how to make them the right size etc.

I'm not trying to do these for sale, just for myself and my friends.

As always, any help would be much appreciated!

shit dude, I found this amazing pattern that I still use today. Ahhh I wanna find the website! But I'll try and write it out here, hopefully this will help you.

1. Chain 3 and then loop into the 1st stitch.

2. Chain 3 and then 2 double crochets into each stitch made before

3. Chain 2 and double crochet alternate (1, 2) stitches into each stitch made before

4. Chain 2 and double crochet alternate (1, 1, 2) stitches into each stitch made before

5. Chain 2 and double crochet alternate (1, 1, 1, 2) stitches into each stitch made before

ect. Keep going until you find the width of your head, keep in mind that the yard will stretch.

then one you finish that part, do a single double crochet into each stitch until desired length of hat. I hope that helped. I'll keep looking for the website that I found it on originally
