soo i just got a pair of crobars with fire irid lenses and it seems like the outside lens won't come clean. theres liek a really subtly layer smudge or something over the entire lens...like can gently scrub it with the cloth it came with, but it only moves around and doesn't really come off. i've tried using water but thats about it...any help? is this normal with the fire lens cause its so reflective?

you can try using warm soapy water to clean them but if they are wicked dirty that might not work, so i would recommend to get oakley's lens cleaner... you can get it at any oakley store and it works really well, just make sure you dont get any on the inner lens cause it will take off the anti-fog solution and if you are cleaning them with the microbag try throwing it in the wash first.

^yeah i might try washing the cleaning bag, and maybe some soap and water. but the paper that came with the lenses said you shouldn't use cleaning solutions on the iridium lenses so don't think i'm gonna do that. thanks for the help + karma

just be mad careful not to get anything inside the lens. If you do, wait for it to dry and then clean it off REALLY lightly. So important because once you fuck up the inside of the lens there is no real way of repairing it properly according to my oakley dealer. You might get some way to making it mildly better but meh...not worth it. If you are careful, your goggles should never fuck up though, unless you stack on your face!

yeah it sounds like a defective lens, maybe contact the shop you got it from to figure it out. if the anti fog layer on the inside is defective it will look like the goggle is smudged and when you use them they'll start fogging up. if that's not the case, just wash them with soapy water

its just on the outside, not the inside of the lens. and its not like i can really see it when your looking through them, its just if you look closely from the outside you can see it. like with my old anons you could just scrub off any smudges or fingerprints but it seems like it doesn't really come of the outside of these. i'll try the soapy water tho.

did you happen to leave your goggles out facing a bright light like a desk lamp or something for a few hours? my cousin works for oakley and he has told me that the iridium coating will smear like you're saying if it exposed to straight on artificial lighting for too long.

ehh i don't think so, they've been sitting around my room since i've got them so its definitely possible.

ok so i thought of a way to describe it- its like when you get a fingerprint on your lens, and you rub it with the cleaning cloth for just a second so it just kind of smears it around, instead of rubbing it off completely? its like a coat of slightly rubbed in fingerprint over the entire lens....if that makes sense haha. and you can only see it in a certain light. like its definitely not a big deal, but my anons never had it and i'm kinda bummed i payed so much for a lens that does that.
and thanks + karma to all who replied

dude i know wat ur talkin bout. all my iridium lenses have this on them. idk wat causes it tho. i would worry about it tho. if i dont effect ur vision its fine. watever u do do use like household cleaning products to clean ur lense tho. some of those can take the iridium coating rite off ur lense. leaving 10 times the smudge u already have.

its definitely not a warranty thing. the warranty only covers the frame for one year. and oakley says not you use any lens solution other than an oakley one because the iridium coating is very sensitive and other lens solutions are too harsh. if nothing else work the lens solution defiately will, i use it on mine all the time just really make sure you dont get it on the inner lens.
