HELP // Backyard Setup: Prepping a steel flat bar

Any tips for prepping rails? Just got a 15ft piece of rectangular steel tubing from my job site, but I have no idea how park crews prep their steel features besides just hitting the sh*t out of them until they're smooth. Anyone with any ideas of how to clean the rail or should I just stop being a p*ssy and let my skis do the cleaning?

Have a great rest of the season my brothers

Love and blessings,

Not park crew but have (very legitimately) borrowed bike racks for jibbing, usually a quick sanding to remove any rust/burrs and then a light coating of skate wax does the trick. I've heard of people using cooking spray or deoderant but never tried them.

If you have a grinding wheel with steel brush, a quick once over with that will smooth it out. If it's hard steel though it should be fine to hit without any prep.

people used to file urbans.

then people started going ham with detuning their edges.

you can use an angle grinder with a high grit flap disk to get the seriously uneven stuff out.

wax also goes a long way for slideability

What kinda janky metal did you get? Should be good to go unless rusty. Paint it to avoid rust and slide it
