Help A Friend Decide Pick Some Skis? K+

Alright, so a buddy of mine recently blew up his old T-Halls on a disaster (it wasn't particularly big or sketchy honestly I think his pair was just defective), anyway he wants to try something very different.

Buddy weighs around 160 ish and is 6"2

He's a bit weird, since he's either skiing all rails and urban or some pow, all on the same pair of skis.

So about 80% park which is almost all rails and then the other 20% is pow (nothing crazy usually a foot or two)

He's got the the option of 4frnt Switchblades in a 181 and Liberty Antigens in a 184 for a good price. Niether have been really discussed to a great length here on NS.

Also theres the possibility of some volkl stepups but at 179 they seem to short

The main concern is durability so that his next pair doesn't blow up again, thanks in advance.

Also he's in the market for new bindings, since he's gotten bigger and skies harder now, at a 9 din he's considering marker griffons since they go to 13 giving a good range and are affordable/light.

Apparently thats not an option, my buddies hesitant on getting Armadas again, and the price issue of course. Basically there are those 3 left in the shop at low prices.

Ohh I see, well I have never ridden those skis you listed so I have no idea, and dont get marker bindings.

Got it, I know they're all plastic which is definitely not good when taking slams during urban or really anything. Halo's just became an option, but the recommended mounting point is something like 2.5 which seems weird for a park specific ski.

Halos are pretty good skis for a rail guy, they may seem a little odd with their shape and such. And center mount them, dont listen to armada. I have never ridden them myself but a lot of people like them. and if your friend is willing to trust armada again. Armadas are really durable skis.

A company is never gonna "recommend" a center mount on a directional ski. For example, even the T Hall has a recommended -2.5cm mount. In spite of that, both skis are obviously designed for park and nobody expects you to ride them anything other than centered. The brand simply puts their recommended mounting point at the narrowest part of the ski.

Halos should absolutely be center mounted, without question.
