Helmets

So I've been living in Morzine in the French Alps this season, I'm 14 and I've been skiing powder whenever possible (it's not been a great season for snow) So my mum saw some of the hikes and off piste I've been doing with other seasonaires and has started asking about helmets...I've never worn one, not because I look down on them - just because I've never worn one, no reason what-so-ever... Ok, so I'm wondering what you guys think about them? How many of you wear them? What's the best brand for helmets? etc...Thanks

This has been discussed many times before.
The consensus has always been that there aren't many (or any) real reasons not to wear a helmet. Obviously a helmet protects your head, is comfortable and warm, has good ventilation, modern helmets look good and if you fall, your goggles won't fly all over the place (whether they're under your helmet or in the goggle strap clip on the back of your helmet).
So basically buy one and wear it. Check out Giro, Smith and POC for example.

^^i've seen/heard too many accidents tht would've been different if they'd worn a helmet ....
that being said, i probably wear mine 90% of the time, only when its really sunny and im just chilling around i'd wear a beanie instead...
i've also had 3 major crashes where i'm sure that if i hadn't been wearing my helmet i'd either be dead or badly injured ....

wear a helmet!!! if your a good skier, little kids will admire you, therefore wear a helmet and set a good example.. and you might as well wear one to protect your head. unless you think your too cool for school....

i wear POC helmets

(POC receptor bug)

I love my helmet its really light so it just feels like im just rocking a beanie! since ive started wearing one i cant imagine going back to not wearing it.

I always wear a helmet.

Speaking of always wearing a helmet... I need a new one for cheap. Size medium... See "Want to Buy" Forum.

wear one for sure. it will probably end up saving your life. especially if you are skiing exposed, rocky terrain. you run into that with your head and its probably lights out. nowdays helmets are so light and low profile, there is no reason not to wear one. and they can be bought for relatively no expense at all

wear one, once i started flipping I started wearing one, then i realized i should have worn one all of the time. Plus, they protect your head and look good. smith, giro, poc

i feel ya man. its going to be strange getting used to wearing one, i have never worn one growing up and wore one for a like a season half in high school but never could get used to it. good for you for taking the incentive to start wearing one young.

Saved me on numerous occasions. Anything can happen, even doing things that you are so comfortable with, things can go wrong. Thats why i always wear mine.
