depends on what helmet, I know my old leedom only could only handle like 12mph before you got like damge done or something! its just good to have one....
I know the giro flint sc is pretty hard core, I got one....
it all depends on the impact. like if you run into a tree head first going 50 km/h (approx 31 mph) its not going to do jack. but if you're hauling balls and catch an edge and go down, or fall and hit your head on a tree, its going to help.

Helmets do help, both mentally and physically. On the physical approach...most people would rather be hit in the head while wearing a helmet than without. Most falls involve your head hitting the snow in some way, helmets will help with that.
Metally, they make you feel more confident. You have more protection, giving you less to worry about.
helmets are the shit anyone who dosnt ski with one is an idiot.i have a pryme vario (which is similar to the pro tec ace 1/2 pipe) and its damn warm. i will be getting a giro 9mx with the headphones built in.
Giro Fuse. Does anyone know if you can get a visor for it? That would be so sick. I'm not buying a Nine.9 MX though, I already dished out for the Fuse, thanks for any input though. I just want to know if you can get a visor seperate and tack it onto the Fuse.
i wear a kinda old Giro Ravine. i dont wear it much cuz my oakley wisdoms dont fit well on it, and i havent shelled out some cash for the helmet compatible goggle strap. speaking of the wisdom helmet goggle strap, anyone know how much they cost? and where i can get one?

I got a K2 helmet. I didnt really care about brand or style, I just wanted one that fitted my noggin. Its super sweet, really warm, very comfy, removable ear pieces, cheap at end of season sale.
In tractor pulls, a 'full pull' is the best you can get. Ahh, how sport mirrors life.
If you came on this site trying to recruit snowboarders from skiers then your outta luck, go jack off on another site biatch. Anyways SAM you said you used the Giro FLint, I plan on buying it because of a bad accident I had by smashing my face on the ground, how does the helmet work and is it worth all that money?
i seriously have a small dent in my scull from when i hit a tree 5 years ago, ever since i have been wereing a helmet, i got a giro s4 for christmas and its so sick, better than my old giro 9.
i rock the giro flint sc full face helmet and love it. helmets tend to make people feel more invincible which can lead to more problems. in my ski class learning to instruct at alta i learned that helmets are only designed to take an impact of 12 mph, falling over sideways from standing up is already a 10 mph impact
Believing in jesus is like believing in santa claus, once you reach a certain age you realize that it's all made up
no matter how fast or slow ur going, helmets are going to protect you more than a hat. Just cus helmets aren't designed to protect u for really high speed crashes, doesn't mean they wont do anything, just think about it.
i got the gyro nine. i paid for the audio and they didnt give me the shit for it. i brought it back the next day and a guy that works at the shop says 'helmets with headphones... they dont have the tecnology for those yet'
giro 9. but ive taken quite a few tumbles in it and its getting a little banged up. probably going to have to go for a new one next year just to be safe. not exactly multiple impact helmets.
I feel bad for people who don't drink, cause when they wake up in the morning, thats the best the're going to feel all day
the Capix helmet 4-Front posted is a peice of shit, i had one and it looks cool and stuff but its meant for skateboarding and warm weather, when it gets cold the plastic gets very fragile and cracks easily, looks good tho.....
giro 9, even if they dont protect at high speeds, they are great from getting your head ripped off by branches if you are ripping through trees, and a real confidence builder during ragdolls... you never know whats under that snow your head is plummeting towards
O yes, you can ski backcountry is syracuse ny

I have a Giro 9and I like it, I haven't gotten hurt badly while wearing it, but I haven't been in a situation where I would get badly hurt really anyway... I just like my helmet to be light.
and people will tell me I am stupid for caring that my helmet is super light, but I would rather have less protection with a helmet I can bear wearing than none at all which would be the case wiht a heavier one because I would never wear it
yeah lauren, I know what you mean about wanting a light helmet. I had this really bulky helmet that I got really cheap. I wore it for a season until I realized how dumb it looked, and how uncomfortable it was. I usually ended up stashing it in my bag while I skied. So I got a new one that doesn't have quite as much protection, but feels better, and I wear it alot more now.
helmets saved me from breaking the 3 mark on concsuiions. prob. would up to 8 by now
I go to the US on a ski trip and meet this american girl. She asks, 'where are you from?'. I answer, 'Ottawa, Canada'. 'Where's Ottawa', she replies. Oh man ...americans...
