Helmets and urban? Survey

Well just wondering, kind of seeing what NS's view is on this. When you watch most movies nowadays you barely see anyone wearing a helmet while doing urban.

So my questions are:

Question1: Do you think it is "legit" to wear a helmet when you do urban?

Question2: Do you wear a helmet when hitting urban?

Question3: Just write what you feel about helmets and urban.

I may give some karmaz pointz ?!? to people who do this.

1. Could care less as long as the trick is landed.

2. Yes I do.

3. Either way is cool, I like the helmet just gives me the cushion of safety. I also think it helps me land my tricks because I'm not worried about a head injury.

1.what

2. yes, i fall a lot

3. since urban is usually around cement or concrete and other hard things, i would like to protect my head when i hit them. I dont know if backyard counts as urban, but i dont wear a helmet when i do that stuff cause theres nothing dangerous around me.

1. I don't really give i shit if anyone wears a helmet on urban.

2. i've honestly never done urban but i would wear i helmet if i did, concrete is hard.

3. Do whatever the fuck floats your boat.

yes helmets are legityesanyone who doesn't wear a helmet on handrails or any urban feature for that matter is a fucking idiot.

1. that sounded like we are still in the 90S and wearing a helmet isnt bad ass.

2. I always wear a helmet.

3. Helmets now are as comfy as hats and its not like with skateboarding back in the day were you could never be sponsored if you wore a helmet in your edit.

1- Skiing without a helmet anywhere is just dumb... so no?

2- I don't ski urban but if I did I would wear a helmet

3- There is no reason not to wear a helmet. Brains all over the slope doesn't look steezy.

Well it's like skateboarding... if you see someone do a trick skating with a helmet on unless it's vert you think less of the trick.

This is what I find strange... everyone here says they strongly agree with helmets, but when watching Eye trip I think everyone is not wearing a helmet when doing urban other then Tom Wallisch? I just don't get it.

1. dumb question

2. yes, mouthguard as well.

3. It takes some serious confidence to hit urban with no helmet. Very few skiers are good (dumb?) enough to do that.

1. i think it's more legit to not wear a helmet doing urban but it's legit to wear a helmet

2. never have, hopefully this winter i will, but yes i would/will wear a helmet

3. refer to question 1

1.yes its "legit" i respect people who wear helmets skiing urban in big movies. (i.e eyetrip)

2. Yes, dont understand why not? really its unnoticable.

3. I've seen way to many people fall, and seriously hurt them selves skiing urban and dont really understand why they arnt wearing a helmet. The concept of not wearing a helmet, in all seriousness I do not understand.

1:yes but my head gets toasty

2:not until i broke a leg and got a concushion my doc said i should never ski again but instead i replaced my smith with a poc and that was goodenough for me

3:i live in portland so we never get snow and when we so its like a centemeter of shit so me and my friends started teaming up to rent a sonw macheen (preaty legit) and we set it up at our school and thats all i can say about urban but i mostly wore helments before but now i alwyas

1: Definitely legit to wear helmet

2: Yes

3: Brain injuries=no more skiing. Helmets= Lesser chance on brain injury=win

skateboarders dont hit nearly as big of urban rails, wallrides, drops, etc. as skiers.

anyways.

1.I never even notice if people are wearing a helmet or not. Either way is cool with me.

2.I always wear a helmet urban or not, but especially urban.

3.Urban is surrounded by concrete, the rails are usually big and steep, and I cant get myself to try anything when I'm not wearing a helmet because I feel like that will be the one time I get broke off.

honestly if your worried about looking legit or not because your protecting your head you worry about the wrong things. you'll look "legit" if you land the trick, if you wear a helmet you're more likely to land the trick, ipso facto helmets are legit

ORLY?

Question1: Yeah for sure, acidents happen so quickly.

Question2: Never do urban but ill wear it when ill try in future..

Question3: It protects and reassures us of serious injury.

1. No, i dont think its very "legit" of skiers wearing helmets when sliding urban rails. EVERY piece of skateboarding media wherever it be in movies, print, edits, promos, advertisements, NONE of it is legit with a helmet. I think the same should go for skiing. 2. Yes, because i am personally paranoid about head injury and cannot commit to anything without one.3. Its all personal preference. Most skiers are pussies when it comes to riding without one (including me) and its unfortunate.

Question1: Do you think it is "legit" to wear a helmet when you do urban?

Why not?

Question2: Do you wear a helmet when hitting urban?

Yes, I always wear a helmet, I don't wanna die before I lose to my virginity because of a double kink rail.

Question3: Just write what you feel about helmets and urban.

I feel that they keep your noggen safe, your cranium is a very important aspect of everyday human life.

Better question.

Is it legit to wear pants while hitting urban features?

Personally, I never wear pants, and I think those that do are pussies.

...

Thoughts?

perfectly said. Wallisch is a big pussy in Eye Trip, he wears a helmet on every shot, and this guy is suppose to be one of the best...but does he really need is gay asss black SWEET helmet with his SCOTT and MONSTER stickers all the time?
NO SHIT LOOKS WEAK, doesnt look like a proffesional to me.
you wack ass people on NS may be dissin on what im saying but it is the truth.

go watch Ahmet gap the bleachers and still try and tell me skateboarders hit things the same size as skiers. I know he wasnt wearing a helmet, but I still think the shear size of some ski features justifies wearing a helmet.

theres also a big difference between landing on flat concrete and a pile of snow. which would you rather hit your head on?

If you wear a helmet while hitting urban you probably shouldn't be hitting urban shit. The only reason Wallisch is wearing a helmet is because of his contracts, most likely. Go look at his superunknown shit, all without a helmet. The reason most people choose to hit urban stuff is because of the risk. Though helmets are safe and protective they just minimize risk. Look at any other sport that hits handrails,BMX, Skateboarding, Snowboarding, etc. None of the top dudes are wearing helmets and that's because they aren't pussies.

Last trick + ten other bangers throughout the movie are spots/gaps that are big enough for skiers. These guys skates it WITHOUT helmets on CONCRETE not snow, and skateboarding has like 1000 different things that can go wrong during a trick. You have 2 skis and they are both attached to your feet, im sure ditching the helmet to get a shot isn't such a big deal...

I would hit that on skis without a helmet in a second. What was that a 10 foot gap with a 7 foot drop. Not discounting the skating it was sick and I watched the entire edit, but honestly none of it matched up with what I see skiers hit. And anyone saying skaters land on concrete so do a lot of skiers. Its almost a given that all skiers shovel the stairs of the rail they are hitting. When I fruitboot I never wear a helmet because I feel comfortable hitting ledges and smaller rails over concrete because the falls are never as big as the ones I take skiing. Either way if someone wants to wear a helmet rollerblading I dont think they're a pussy and I certainly dont bitch about any shots they get wearing a helmet. Do you honestly think its that "badass" to not protect your brain so your shots will be more "legit" when they look absolutely no different then those with a helmet. I have never once watched a shot and gone "THAT WAS SICK!. Oh but he was wearing a helmet… now it sucks" and I most certainly have never gone "eh that shot was alright… wait rewind it. OH MY GOD HE WASNT WEARING A HELMET THATS SO FUCKING COOL THAT FLAILY 180 WAS SICK>!"

1. helmets are fine to wear

2. always

3. I always wear a helmet, It's not a hassle and gives you a bit of extra confidence knowing your head won't crack open on the cement/rail

1-Helmet is a personnal choice, I don't see anything wrong about wearing one during urban. I don'T pay attention to that.

2-I wear an helmet while hittong urban rails.

3-I feel more confortable with a helmet on, I think it would be so stupid to get a concussion or any brain damage because I wanted to look cooler on camera or in front of my friend. Cause in the end, I have fun and it's the only thing that matters.
