Helmet

that bern looks good but POC really is the best...

Also, Marker makes some frressh buckets.

check them out...

yeah... POC is the best. my brother rode for bern last year and overshot a jump with one of there helmets last year and it caused him to be temporarily paralized for a few hours and he was throwing up and got a stage 3 concution from hitting his head along with minor permanent brain damage. the hemlemt fully cracked in half and did not protect him at all.

now he has a POC and doctors okay'd him to hit jumps agian so in my opinion go with POC. they have some cool models out this year anyways.

Obviously you don't understand how helmets work. They're not designed to stop injuries from happening. They simply add a bit of protection beyond what your skull provides. You say the helmet cracked in half. Obviously the helmet did exactly as it should have. The force that it took to crack the helmet, was force that wasn't sent into your brothers head. If the helmet stayed in one piece, it would have meant all the force from the fall would have been transferred to his head. Just stop and think for a bit about how much he would have been hurt had he had no helmet at all...

im using a capix. and thats basically like putting yogurt container on your head in terms of protection...id say poc is the best. they are super good.

dont buy a capix, unless, like me, you completely sacrifice safty for steez.

This man knows what he's talking about. I was going to say that but he took the words out of my mouth. It is designed to crack to absorb the force though, if you don't want a helmet to crack than you're better off not wearing one, when it cracks then it has saved you. That's why it's important to store them correctly so they don't crack too easily or it takes too much to crack them.

so youre saying that a helmet should break every time you hit your head to prove its effectiveness huh?

that would turn skiing into quite an expensive hobby. helmets shouldnt break upon impact homie.

It's supposed to break. It's not gonna break with a small impact. With a large impact it's supposed to break. Just think about it dude. By breaking it absorbs all the force that would have been applied to his head. I tried to find a website with something about it but I couldn't.

everyone is saying POC, and im fine with that, i agree that POC makes great helmets. But get real here guys, POC helmets are amazing, but not everyone has the chance to try one on to see if it fits their head right, and if a helmet does not fit your head correctly it will not protect you to the extent it would if it did fit your head. So thread creator, just see what fits your head best and get that.

Think about the helmet cracking idea like a car.

Cars these days are designed so that when they are hit head on the engine drops out and the front end acts like foam and absorbs the impact.

When a helmet is hit hard, it cracks and spreads the impact out on the rest of the helmet.

its true,

and on most helmets, it says that they for a one time, big blow to the head.

and after a large impact, you should replace it.

well thats what i said on my giro anyways?

something along those lines?

i think you mean you need a new risk-enabler. i have a K2 Clutch with Baseline ACS (so dope), but i recommend a Protec or R.E.D.
