Helmet recommendations

I'm looking for a helmet that can protect my brain very well but also give me enough room to wear my beanie and goggles underneath. Bonus points if it also ventilates well. Any suggestions?

For many years I've worn a smith holt and I've had to remove the padding from the inside in order to fit my hat and googles underneath, but now that I'm older and a little wiser I'm looking for a safer option without having to sacrifice the style and comfort that I currently enjoy. So far I've been looking at the Shred Bumper NoShock which seems like it may do the trick.

Thanks in advance!

I got a Bern Baker EPS and took out the pads on the inside and I can fit my beanie and goggs underneath. They run for about 80 bucks on sale and you can find some cheaper if you look.

I bought a Giro Ledge MIPS and it's super solid and looks sweet. as for fitting hats underneath, with any helmet you'll either have to wear a thinner balaclava rather than a toque, buy the helmet a size bigger, or remove the padding.

Just try a bunch of different ones on with whatever beanie you usually wear skiing and see which one fits best on your head. I'm a big fan of helmets with the dial thing on the back to tighten it, but right now I have a smith holt which I love because it is super light and fits my head really well, but it has just an elastic strap and a few points of adjustment on the inside of the helmet.

I just got the new Oakley helmet they came out with this year. It's fucking sick and accommodate all your needs

Smith Maze is pretty nice.

Would Smith helmets fit my long oval face? Can't find one to try on in my area...

honestly i ordered one off evo and tried on it to make sure it was the right size, which it was, i went with the same size i was in a holt which is what helmet i was previously using. The padding removes easily and helmet looks good.

The mod 5 or mod 3?

Because if it's the mod 5 I agree, that is a fucking ugly helmet

Probs the mod 5 then... God what was Oakley thinkin on that one

Looks like they let some douche from accounting design it. The black and green one, ugliest helmet I've seen. But it's got the O on it, people will pay top dollar for it.

Anything with Multi impact capabilities, that way you arent buying a new helmet every time you take a questionable head digger.

Ive been happy as a clam with my POC receptor +'s/MIPS ones, the foam gets worn out but thats from at least 2-5 days of skiing/week last year. Very comfy, durable, and toasty. It might just be me but i rock a dakine baclava (the thinner the material underneath the better) or a neck tube on warmer days and experience no issues.

Do away with the beanie under the helmet stuff though. Get one of those underarmour durag things if youre worried about sweat, or a baclava. Mine all smell like rotting asshole but its better than being braindead.

^ pretty much this

Yes to the balaclava or any microfibre beanie. As for the rotten asshole stench, I've heard that hot water and detergent mixed together work wonders...

Giro Combyn is very good. It's soft foam instead of that stiff hard styrofoam stuff, that way when u fall it doesn't hurt nearly as much. Hard styrofoam ones hurt. Plus, the stiff memory foam in the helmet is very comfortable and forgiving, and it's not as thick so it reduces helmet size and weight.

I second thia vote i have the mod5 in black it looks much better without the earpads.

Got the Anon Blitz and it's great. Pretty light, good fit with a beanie/goggles under the helmet, looks good on my oval face (ie: I don't look like a mushroom anymore).
