Helmet recommendations?

i have the bern baker and like it quite a bit. i have it in a large and it is just the right size to wear a beanie and goggles underneath. i would get that, and they are only like $40.

if you are talking pure safety without price being a problem get a POC helmet. the recepter and synapsis(sp) are both SUPER light, and safe.

I ski with a Giro encore, I like it alot except for the uncloseable vents in the front, when i start going fast my head freezes.

i have the giro g10mx with the visor its a sick helmet i really like it and great with tune ups, kinda spendy though. the smith holt's also are cool but lots of people have them

i've got the smith variant brim and i like it
i think the way to shop for helmets thought is to go to a ski shop, try them on, and bring along ur whole goggle lineup and make sure the all fit

not to be an ass but u should note that berns are Not a helmet in case this guy didnt know

id say the most popular companys to look at are Giro, and smith in my opinion

there helmets except the HARDHAT is not under the safety federation or whatever its called, if your gonna buy a bern get one with a EPS liner. it is light and its covered under the federal safety thing meaning it has been approved for crashes and bangs

uhh sweet protection helmets are one the safest also protects makes some certified mutiple impact helmets. On bern helmets I believe that they are better for concussions because of the soft padding but worse if you were to run into a tree

I like my Bad Lieutenant. You might want to try it on first though because it fits a bit differently than most helmets.

im staying away from giro. I had one and landed on my head, broke them helmet and got a cunncusion

Thank you for correcting an ignorant post. ++karma

If you dont know what your talking about, why post it and confuse other people and give mis-information?? Especially when dealing with a subject like helmets?

There is no protection in the world that you could wear that stops concussions. The reason being is, a concussion occurs because your brain matter gets "smushed" against your brain wall....Its a simple matter of momentum. If your head abruptly stops moving, your brain is still moving (has momentum) and presses up against your brain wall, causing the concussion...again...nothing in the world to stop that from happening.

A helmet, keeps your skull together and your brain matter inside, so you arent oozing brains on the slopes after you hit your head.

Think football and hockey helmets..probably the best designed helmets for impact sports yet the sports with the highest frequency of concussions....

What about salomon patrol ace? The 2009 model is exactly the same but has the option of audio ear pads for it. Or maybe the salomon brigade audio?
