Helmet or ordinance

I was wondering if anyone uses the ordinance beanie and how doe sit compare to a helmet or is a helmet still the best one

 
it doesnt "compare" to a helmet, meaning it ISNT DESIGNED as a replacement for a helmet. It's personal preference if you want to wear a hemlet, a padded hat, or nothing at all.

Short of that, its comfortable, and the audio version is really nice

i have only skied without a helmet a few times, i feel more comfortable wearing my helmet seeing i have gotten many concussions

the ordinace is no replacemnet for a helmet, it even says it on the website. if you hit ur head lightly on the snow itll hurt less, but if u smash ur head on a rail its not gunna stop u from crackin ur skull.

in all seriousness.. how can you go that high on a tree without pooping

ya man i got it and i dont usually hit my head but it still helps ahell alot like i get punched in hte head and...well ya it helps. i wouldnt really rely on it as a helmet but it does protect you from the minor stuff and is hella comfy and warm

 
Anyone who doesn't wear a helmet is stupid in my opinion. One little slip up is all it take to make you retarded forever. I mean it's not like our helmets look incredibly gay or anything either. Invest 60 bones in a helmet and your head will thank you. I saw a snowboarder last winter fall back seat while doing a boardslide on a rail, he smacked his head so hard on the rail, if he wasn't wearing a helmet his brain would have been leaking out the back of his skull. Instead he got up and rode it off.

my helmet saved my life this year...and i still had a grade 3 concussion after the fall...tried straigntlining a small rockband switch into a wind buffed bowl...clipped some old avy debris and cranked my head on something hard...did not who i was, where i was or what was going on...without the helmet the doc said id probably be a vege...which would prob make some people here happy....

 
yeah i've worn a helmet my hole life I've had soem of those hard hits on a rail were with out u'd be in major pain. good thing i wear one.

I hate helmets. I only wear em in the pipe or when Im going for something new and huge. Otherwise its just annoying to wear one

its part of the sport and you are and idiot if you dont wear one and especially if you think you dont need one...have you ever seen a friend in a coma from a head injury that was preventable,,,talking to his parents and explaining what happended when he fell ...

I suffered 2 concussions last year from skiing alone, i had a dislocated vertabrae in my lower neck from football one year, and Ive had numerous times where ive been knocked out from a fall. All wearing a helmet. So yeah I think a helmet aint gonna do too much either way for me

Not to mention I have to have helmets custom made because my heads too big. As well as fitted hats. Lids just doesnt seem to have size 8 1/4...

Anyone who uses or has seen the Ordinance padded hat, how does it look when it's worn? Just like a normal beanie or does it make your head look huge? I've got a few snowboarder friends who won't wear helmets so I might suggest it to them. I might even get one myself if it looks good. If I'm not riding park I don't wear my helmet, but a bit of protection is always good, better than a beanie at least.

 
while the padded hat may work real well next time someone taps you in the head to hard, a helmet works real well for skiing
