what are some cool helmets this year?

besides the giro bad lieutenant. cuz every one has that one.

i'm thinking of burn helmets. any suggestions

i have a BL, and it never gets old lol. check out the encore, the 540, the G10 is probably one of the most popular these days too (also really really sick thats why), and a bern helmets are always awsome too.

yeah it's a really good idea to bring the googles to try the helmets. if the googles don't fit, a sick helmet gets rediculously ugly. I really like smith holt helmet, and this year's has some sick graphics

i'd do that, but, i'm not one for helmets, i dont think any helmet looks that cool. my mom wants me to get one, so i am.

thats why i'm asking ns, cuz i dont really think any helmet looks cool. so if i'm going to get one, might as well get one that other people think are cool

of course i'm going to care what it looks like....why do you go buy a new $200 or $300 jacket? cuz it looks cool. you dont spend that much on a jacket to keep you warm. you can buy a jacket from wal mart for under a 100 to keep you warm.

and i do care how it fits.

i once bought a 350 dollar jacket because it said "im cool because i have this jacket and you dont" it made me feel wicked awusum!

Yeah.. i have the same problem.. i hate wearing a helmet there uncomfortable.. And i race too,, so i have to have one with hard ears,, which really sucks dick.. any ideas

giro nine.9

giro g10 (mx)

smith holte

RED trace

RED hifi (if you want uber goggle sag)

im sure there are more good ones out there, those are just some legit ones i know of

there are some ways to make a helmet look better if you dont like helmets. 1- wear the goggles under the helmet, thers usually a way but there are so many helmets, i'm not going to get in to that. 2- take the ear flaps off and rock some kind of hat underneath. you might also need to remove the inner liner, aka"padding" for the hat to fit, but i find a quality croche'd hat provides as much "padding" as the liner does (in the case of a r.e.d hifi anyways). making sure the goggles fit is definatly key, like someone above said, that can ruin a sick helmets if they dont fit. i'm not going to tell you what helmet you should get though, thats up to you to decide.

guys, do tell me if i've entirely missed the point of helmets but...

i was always under the impression that you wear a helmet to protect your head, brain injuries and thousands of $$$ of medical bills. reading this thread however, i seem to be mistaken, as popular opinion appears to be that the real purpose of a helmet is to make you look cool. as such, it would seem that the most important factor in choosing a helmet therefore is whether or not it fits your goggles, rather than whether or not is is likely to prevent your skull from being fractured in the event of a severe impact.

WHAT THE FUCK IS WRONG WITH YOU PEOPLE!?

hierarchy of choice factors (NO ARGUEMENT)

1] How much protection it affords the wearer.

sweet helmets www.sweet.no

poc helmets www.pocski.com

giro helmets www.giro.com

...are the best, in that order

2]Fit (your head). The best helmet in the world won't protect you too well if it doesn't fit the shape/size of your head correctly.

3] Last, AND LEAST, how it looks with your goggles.

People, I'm not preaching to you that you must wear a helmet, its your fucking head not mine, but if you do, buy one based on my hierarchy. If your that worried about how it looks, know that the people that really matter, i.e. that ones that really know what they're talkin about, will give you way more respect for rocking a quality product rather then being a fashion victim.

rant over :)
