Helmets are kind of like ski boots in the fact that you really have to try them on s before you buy, preferably with your goggles. Everyone has a different head shape and certain brands fit differently. Theres a lot of other factors too; weight, venting, adjustability, safety, and new tech such as MIPS to consider...

I bought my helmet online so I did not have the chance to try it on before buying. But what I did was...I went to my shops and tried on different helmets but by the same manufacturer. Usually gives you a good idea of what the helmet will fit like...hope that helps

I have the IOX's with the smith maze and I love both how both work together as far as airflow keeping the goggles from fogging and the flush look the helmet brings the goggles and vice versa. The Maze itself is REALLY light too. I don't even feel like I have a helmet on when ride.

I like the giro surface s, it came in a pretty sweet matte white colorway this year. But I'm still in love with my Bern Bakers and always will be

I would agree that the smith maze really is a great helmet. I tried numerous helmets on (pretty much all the more popular ones on here...) and none of them felt quite as good for me as the maze. It is INCREDIBLY light. Obviously, your experiences may differ with regard to fit.

Since you're also using it with IOX's, that's another reason to get it- the vents are designed to line up with the goggles.

The only downside is that because the shell is a one piece design, you are really supposed to replace the helmet if you smack your head with it on.
