Im looking to get a pair of powder skis from 2010 that will rip the pow and still ski the groomers and ive narrowed it down to hellbents or prophet130 or the Czars. Can you guys help? im 6'2 200 pounds and am an expert skiier!
It really depends if you want a charging or more jib friendly pow ski. Prophet 130s and Bents are pretty much as opposite as you can get in a 130 waist ski.
Czar will be the most versatile by far. Not sure why you'd want the Prophet 130, it's unnecessarily huge and with only slight rocker (but in my opinion so is the Hellbent if you ski at a resort). HB is good if you hit BC booters a lot I guess. If you need hard snow performance (like anyone who skis in bounds does) the Czar is your best bet. Skiing icy sections of chutes is not fun on a huge ski with rocker.
Bents!
I love mine. They handle most everything well. Obviously excel in powder, but I find them fun on the groomers also. If your going fast on groomers, then they would probably be a bit to flexy. But if your just skiing around in and off of groomers and whatnot, there fun skis.
I would look into the bentchetlers over the czars. while the czars are definitely decently stiff they're only 111 (114 on the 190) underfoot. I would probably look into the obsethed too as someone previously mentioned. And if you were to wait a year the Rocker2's are gonna be a hot ski next year
You clearly have absolutley no idea of what you want, since the three skis you are mentioning is probalbly as diffrent from each other as they possibly can be..
Be aware though, the Czar's is made for off-piste specifically ,the turn radius for Czar 190cm is 55m. They will work on hardpack, but there is absolutley no carving down the groomers on them!
Hellbents are just heaps of fun anywhere except concrete hardpack. You find yourself looking for stupid stuff to try and bulldoze, just for a laugh... it doesn't have to be a 12"+ day for you to have an awesome time on them. Just my take though.
Those are 3 very different skis.
Hellbent: Powder ski. Good for backsountry jumping/jibbing and skiing powder. Pretty soft and def not intended for groomers
130s: Pretty much just early rise in the tips. Pretty versiatile ski for a 130 waist, stiffer than bents and much more skiable on more demanding terrain.
czar: The only true all mountain ski out of the three. Pretty good more most stuff.
I actually take my HellBents to rail turns on groomers, ha. They work. Somebody mentioned 200 lbs being too big for the ski, which is completely incorrect. I'm 6'2' and about 195 and they are dope.
U've obivously never skied the czars and/or don't ski fast enough to get a fat ski like that to set a decent edge. While they are a pow ski, and don't carve very well, they will carve on groomed, esp soft groomed. They are a great ski for about 80% off trail 20% groomed, just don't take them out on an icy day and u'll have a great time with them
