Hellbents vs chopstick

im looking to get a fat ass pair of skis this winter that can also rip up the groomers when needed. Ive narrowed my choices down to the hellbents or chopsticks... does anyone have any experience with them and point me the right direction?

im leaning towards the chopsticks but the sym shape makes me nervous for powder?

Well the first thing that pops into my head:

Chopsticks = super stiff

Hellbents = super soft

They are similar dimensions (ish) but they are really extremely different skis. What would you be using them for specifically? "Skiing pow" is kind of a cop-out answer, because of course you'll be skiing pow on these, they are powder skis! But specifically, what'll you be doing? Sending massive cliffs? Charging lines? Just cruisin'? It all comes down to what you want from these skis.

And just to let you know, don't be trippin' out about the symmetrical sidecut of chopsticks, it's fine.

thanks for the help man, i will be using them for pow days, and the occasional groomers with the folks and girl, but beyond that i want a cliff stomping, straight lining ski. for park and non pow days i ride a ar6 at -3 mount...

If you want also some groomer performance I think you're looking at the wrong skis. In that case you would probably be better off with something that has some camber too. Armada JJ, Line SFB, Rossi S7 etc are all like that.

I have last years chopsticks and my dad has this years hellbents. We have each only riden them once, but i liked the chopsticks way more than i was expecting to. I haven't skied his hellbents yet, but when i do, hopefully tomorrow, i will let you know. The chopsticks are great for charging and they softened up A TON just that first day.

Ask Charley Ager how 'noodley' his HellBents are after he stomps 180's off 40ft cliffs into gnarly runouts.

i would recommend chopsticks, i have a pair and i dont find them to be extremely stiff and i am only 135lbs and 5'6''. they are a good charging ski cause of their stiffness compared to hellbents and being symmetrical are good for stomping switch tricks and riding away in deep powder.

I never got worked up. I just said for people claiming it to be a 'noodle' it works in a variety of conditions where you would think a 'noodle' wouldn't. Ager as a case in point. Dude drops big tricks on them at speed.
Yes, softer tip and tail than ChopSticks, but stiff underfoot and torsionally rigid.

Ok cool, I wouldn't really describe either of them as noodles anyway, someone that I quoted used the term first.

it could explain why his landings fall so much forwards however...

not saying ager isn't a crazy mother fucker, or that bents are noodles either, just saying he might end up being more stable with a firmer ski. Especially when dropping 100+ ft cliffs.
