Hellbents on the groomed

How do these monsters do on the groomers, I'm getting some this year and I'm super stoked, and I was just curious if i just get another groomer specific ski or if I'd be alright w/ these beasts. I ski 50% pow 30%park and 20% groomers I ski like every weekend so I would call myself an aggressive skier.
 
Yeah you can carve on em, they arent a slalom or even gs ski or anything, but as long as it isnt straight up ice you can carve them pretty well.
 
which is longer? the list of threads on hellbents or the extra distance it takes to hockey stop on bents on groomers.
 
which is more, the 5,000 threads on this topic, or the times jjs have been brought up while talking about thier groomer preformance?
 
they will flap and slide around but you will no doubt be able to get from point A on top of the groomer to point B at the bottom of the groomer with not too much difficulty, i suggest you start trying to stop halfway between the two points though...they are meant for pow but can handle a groomer between the pow and the lift, but don't ski these when there isn't pow
 
why not? ive been skiing with sean decker for the past few days and he has been riding them at mammoth and it hasnt snowed in over a week, and its been hot as shit
 
My racer friend wanted to learn boxes so i set him up on my park skis and rode my bents all day. Still had a lot of fun. Once you got going they were fun as hell just to bomb around and carve. Rails were pretty sketch though because my edges were about as sharp as my friends racers...
 
i rode them for a little bit and they just flapped and slid around on groomers, i'm used to race skis or pow skis with a shit load of sidecut so these seemed shitty for groomersif you're just fucking around in the park it's fine but imo they sucked for groomer skiing, no rockered ski that's soft and 122 underfoot is gonna excel in groomers
 
i agree the ski doesnt excel on groomers, but it is definately sufficient for skiing around on warm days, or after it has snowed and its not icy. but for a fat rockered ski it handles well on groomed. and just fyi the hellbent isnt soft underfoot, it has a more medium stiff flex which is what allows it to still handle decently on piste.

if you are looking for something a little more groomer oriented check out the obsetheds, less extreme rocker and narrower but still fat enough to give good float, i have a pair and they kill it everywhere. super stable, and i weigh 200 pounds (i have the 189s). they kill in the park, i did some blind 360 switch ups on mammoths sharkfin box(up drop down) and was able to do pretzels (2 on 2 off)
 
After riding the EP Pro's for a while it was surprisingly easy to ride the Bents. They seem alot more stable on groomers and in crud. I like them alot more on the runs, even though its not really designed as an all mountain ski.
 
We didn't design it as a park ski either, but some of the things I have seen people do on them in the park amazes me.
 
Hahahha. Lots of non park skis and pow skis have camber. Plus the amount of camber that the Bents have is very minimal.
 
not true. the majority of powder specific skis have camber...and if I'm not mistaken, the hellbents have reverse camber which is actually what you DON'T want on anything other than powder.
 
sorry, youre wrong. hellbents have camber under foot and they are rockered in the tip and tail. rocker is not reverse camber
 
im quite positive you are wrong.

have you ever ridden or put helbents against eachother? if you put them together you can see they have flat camber
 
yes I have owned hellbents for over a year.

and think about what you just said... "they have flat camber" that means they have no camber underfoot or are flat, like i said.
 
I dont know man, my friend just got a pair of bents and when held together it looks like there is 1 or 2 cm of camber.

r those the bent on the ground in the 2nd pic cuz those look like they gots a whole lot more rocker than mine mine came today im so stoked!
 
first off, you have been riding them how long?

is it not possible that you have rode them so much that they lost their camber?

your brakes could also be holding them together
 
stick your boot in the binding, and lay them flat on a hardwood floor. if you lay on your stomach, you will see that they do have camber underfoot. if your still not convinced, take a piece of paper and slide it underfoot, then slide it towards the tip and tail. you will feel exactly where the camber ends and rocker begins
 
1 mm of camber?! seriously what is that gonna do, as soon as you put that on snow and apply any force down the ski is gonna be flat. if you are a good skier and have time to get used to them im sure you will love them. i really want a pair just to jib around on.

if you have any ski, regardless of how much camber it has, "any force down the ski is gonna be flat"

i wasnt saying that other skis wont be pushed flat to that snow, just how small of a defference 1mm is going to make. thanks tho, for telling me what i had just said, me being "that dumb" had almost forgetten. oh knowledgable one...

with your logic, no amount of camber would make any difference skiing
 
To answer all the questions directed towards me:

1. These skis have always been like this

2. The brakes make no difference, i looked at them before i had them mounted.

3. There is definitely not even a millimeter of camber on each ski, when put together they is a gap is just noticeable, its a hair thick, like 0.25mm so the camber in each ski would be about 0.125 which probably just happens when the epoxy in the ski is drying.

4. yes 1mm of camber would make a difference, I'm not sure how noticeable it would be but it would definitely change the distribution of pressure.

5. Yes the skis on the second picture are hellbents, the rocker probably looks wonky because the lense i was using is pretty wide.

6.Sorry for cluttering your thread with this arguement, hopefully your stoked on the skis.
