Hellbents - go from 179 to 189?

So NS... let me draw upon your infinite wisdom.

I have a pair of 179 Clownbents mounted at center with FKS180. I'm 5'10, about 190, fairly powerful skier. Hellbents = daily driver for me, ski them all over in all conditions BUT I have a pair of 177 Ace of Spades which I should really ski more often. I want to be able to charge better/go fast on my Hellbents, without them scaring the crap out of me, although part of me says it should be possible on the 179s.

I've been offered a pair of brand new 189 Hellbents (Orange monster truck ones) for a very good price.

I'm wondering what I should do. Options are:

1. Buy 189s, buy more FKS, spend every day wondering if I should take the 179s or the 189s up the hill

2. Take FKS off 179s, put them on 189s, sell 179s

3. 189s are stupid, stick with 179s.

What do you all think?

Number two all the way. I was in the same boat as you this winter and I switched from the 179 to the 189 (BTW im 190 as well) and it made every thing feel so much safer. I was able to go mach 10 down groomers, not like I couldn't do that before on the 179 but I just felt more stable and confident that I was not going to die. And the extra length makes stomping cliffs so much more easy because you have all that tail in the back.

I'd probably sell them pretty cheap, but unless you're in NZ this winter the shipping will be a killer...

Thanks for the input Wood_Wizard, +k.

I made the jump to 89's a few years back and I won't go back now. Sure, if you encounter some bumps, you can't swivel 'em as quick, so you just point it and skip over everything.

So fun. 89 is added stability for sure.

Sell the clowns, get the hillbilly serial killers and commence shredding!
