Heliskiing?

So I found out today that I can get a day's heliskiing in revelstoke for $400, usually it's $689 for this opperation. They give you your choice of runs on selkirk and monashee mountains. Thy guarantee 3-4 runs in the day, but i'm thinking that'd because they have to accomodate for people who's fitness and skill levels aren't that great. So, considering all that, is this a good deal or should I take that money and go for a cat skiing trip?

here's the link to the page, for some reason they don't have the day trip listed, but a guy dropped some off at our shop today, and told us that we'd get a deal of $400, and would email info on how to book it to our manager.

400 bones isnt too bad for a heli skiing trip. Its not the cheepest out there but if you have never been heliskiing then id go for it

400 bones for H-skiing is a pretty wicked price.

I bet they have to drop pricing cuz going to any resort out west these days is like going heliskiing in iteself.

Do it.

Tell us all about it.

lots of heliskiing sucks, you have to ski flat runs in a group and listen to what the guide says and stop halfway down the run and wait for fat old farts. If I were you I wouldn't scrimp out on a heliski trip. If your're going to go on one. YOu may as well go with a good company (small groups lots of vertical, steep terrain) and you may as well make a trip out of it. Because skiing 3-4 runs a day. Even if they are long runs (3000-4000 feet) is not very many. Go with a good company if your're going at all I say.

nah, they're giving our shop discounts, so i might be going with a group of people I work with, which means i'd be going with people who know what they're doing. I'm thinking I'm gonna take advantage of this, just for the experience. I've only been out of debt for a month now, so it's not like i've gotten too attached to having money.

well just a thought i was recently touring in the monashee mountains and we went up cariboo ridge which i know is a popular heli-ski run it was like neck deep so do it its dope

Takt it rocker_grrl. deffinitly worth it! I myself like cat more due to undersized wallet but worth every penny.

i have been hearing rumors that if you are skiing in a group, they arent allowing twin tips anymore too much spray off the tips

That's B.S. You shouldn't be riding a person's arse that hard anyways. Did ROCKERGIRL ever go heliskiing?

If so, tell us about the experience.

i hate to say it but friedcheese is right. i've been heli skiing and it blew goat nuts for me. i love my trees and super steep and deep. i have a similar deal through my shop with the same company but not really interested. i would rather go with a smaller group operation or a good cat ski op. anyeways you get better vert in a day with a cat ski op, the only down side i see is the no heli ride. hey rocker_grrl what shop do you work for? you have to be pretty steezy to be in a shop!

ya who the fuck skis rite behind you in your line when you go heli skiing. to me that kind of seems to defeat the purpose of paying the 400 to go make fresh tracks

yeah i actually decided against it. I'm going off to chile this summer, and i figure $400 can get me a good 3 weeks extra over there, so i'm gonna wait on it, and also wait until i can go with people i know are all around the same skill level, so i wont be stuck waiting around like some of you guys suggested. I work at abominable in calgary, not the best ski shop, haha, but hey, the pay and benefits are decent and it's 5 blocks from home, so it works.
