curious to know what your opinion is, worth it, not worth it?

and for those of you who have gone before, your recommendations.
and for the record, i know it's expensive, but it looks super beautiful and the powder looks tempting.

i went out when i was 16 to jackson hole and skied the hobacks (mountain range). went for four days with my dad who is a real good skier. first two days blue bird and about thigh deep, third day snow moved in and heli couldnt go up that day we skied BC and jackson and it was amazing four and last day we woke up to jackson bombing the hell outta the mountian for avalanches went up in the heli and had, no joke, chest to neck deep snow. i remember our guide was saying that they called days like that "mole days" cuz if you see a mouse or something running through the snow sometimes there head pops up and that all you could see and thats how it was skiing. it was amazing and would totally recommend it.

A helicopter, a power driven-heavier than air aircraft. It uses two sets of rotating wings, one set controls height and airspeed, the other controls yaw and direction. Leonardo DaVinci is credited for inventing the concept of the auto-gyro flying machine.

OHHH you mean one of these?

First thing i would say is CHOOSE CAREFULLY!! There are a million and one heli ops in canada and some are better than others. Choose badly (CMH) and you'll have a week skiing 15 degree powderfields which you effectively "plough" right behind a guide with 8 other fat 50 year old gapers in one piece suits. Mica Creek, Bella Coola, Skeena Heli and Northern Escape all allow you (provided you prove to be a good enough skier) to hit some more adventurous shit. However, make sure you have realistic expectations before you go: don't think you'll be ripping Seth-style lines on 50 degree faces- if you're lucky you'll get to hit some real fun shit but don't expect them to let you charge around the hill willy-nilly hand picking your epic lines from the heli.

chck out www.eaheli.com they'll be able to help you find exactly what you're looking for. They're pretty much the foremost heliskiing agents in the world and they know their shit! Take their advice, choose well and have the best experience of your life. Act like Butch Cassidy and pick a random heli-op out of the blue and prepare to be dissappointed!

It's your call, good luck!

thanks for the info.
i guess one of the myths is that heli will allow you to hit those lines in the absinthe flicks, probably not even close. expectations are stretched by those videos, eh?

Mica Heli is by far one of the better, especially in terms of value for money. Don´t you ever go to any CMH operations, or Wiegele. AK is sick, but a gamble for weather. Europe mostly sucks, except from a few spots in Switzerland. All depending on your group and guide.
