The
Clackamas County Sheriff's Office says an Oregon Army National Guard
helicopter took an injured climber from Mount Hood to a Portland
hospital.
The climber, 54-year-old John Creager of Milwaukie, Ore., sustained
leg, arm and facial injuries after falling about 500 feet Sunday.
A sheriff's office spokesman says Creager, initially knocked unconscious, was in "amazingly good spirits" during the rescue.
The fall occurred at about the 10,600-foot mark. There were about 40
climbers ascending the mountain at the time, including a doctor who
treated Creager.
The helicopter transported Creager from Timberline Lodge to OHSU Hospital.
that sounds like a life flight.
