Heavy snow in Tahoe

Did any one find fresh snow that was not so heavy. Heavenly sucked because of the lower elevation. Kirkwood got rained on too. Hopefully the next storm this week will bring better snow!

i had a lotta fun a kirkwood but it was not 40 inches deep pow like they got, it skied like mashed potatoes and you couldnt really break through unless you huck something.

Ill be at the wood tomarrow, but ya what we do need is nice fluffy snow. But if ya got a backcountry booter ya want to build now would be a great time to just pile snow up to get a start for when to good stuff gets here.

anyone go to rose? they are the highest so if anyone got decent snow it would be them. Im thinkin about going there tomorrow so just wanted to know how it was. Went to N* today and as everyone has been saying not good snow at all it was like spring skiing in slush.

pretty much everyone got slammed on this weekend. Opitimized sierra cement... like 20% precip in the snow...

Far cry from anything short of UTAH blower...

but hey, snow is snow right? it will give a decent base and once it becomes packed it will remain for a loonnng time. probably till the end of the year.

and theres more snow on the way too :D

anyone know what squaw looks like? I'll be up there Wednesday (dec 21) if anyone is interested in coming out.

Kirkwood got the sickest park around these days in tahoe. Off the groomer runnes suck just like every where else.

I went to rose today and I was surprised with the snow much better then n* it was actualy a nice day of skiing they didnt have anything set up really like 2 boxes and a 25ft table but it was a pretty good day

i went to boreal yesturday and it rained like all day. it was terrible. i went again today and the snow was really soft...like to soft. it kinda sucked besides the snow sucking there was like a million tourists.

i was there on monday and it was fun, a fwe inches of powder potatoes - you could jump some rocks, biggest we did was 15 or 20 feet.

I was at squaw today. HORRIBLE HORRIBLE HORRIBLE. It was like skiing through poop. I hate to say it but i'm thinking it was a wasted trip. Definitely the worst day of this short season.

i was at alpine today and it was pretty crappy. better than i expected but still crappy...the snow was like spring skiing in the morning and as it got later everything froze up to solid ice. the park was pretty sick. couple boxes couple rails 2 jumps that were good enough for me today. but overall i was suprised how skiable it still was.

yesterday was one of the best days i have ever had it was at alpine meadows and we had all the fresh tracks... it was snowing heavy. today at boreal it was raining bad, i know what you mean

MissD and I just got back from 4 days in tahoe. Here's the break down.

Monday:

Awsome snow. 12"-18" of fresh everywhere. (heavenly)

Tuesday:

Also awsome. It dusted Monday night so things were still soft. Started to rain arround noon. (sierra)

Wednesday:

Snow is still good. Snow over night. Just a few inches. Still lots of fresh in the trees. rain snow mix arround 11. (sierra)

Thursday:

Not really any new snow, maybe a dusting. Was starting to warm up and be decent but we had to leave. Good thing we left because down the mountain from Sierra the traffic was backed up for 5 miles at least.

wow it was really different at alpine. i dont know about monday but tuesday there wasnt really anything new. weather wasnt great. wednesday the weather was terrible and the snow was too. thursday we got new snow and it was a mini pow day. crazy how it was different

The rain made it suck on Tuesday and Wednesday. Monday was fun but there was ice under the powder at Heavenly. OUCH!

forecast calls for 2" of rain below 8500ft tonight....who's stoked!?!??! that means every resort will get rain in tahoe and theres only one person to blame.....KIM, for kicking a puppy. damnit Kim you blew our season.

man, yeah the rain sucked so bad today, I was up at sierra and only stayed till like 12, it was just nasty, yesterday was nice though bluse skies, a bit different from today. lets hope this next storm will be alot colder!

it's not my fault. maybe the lack of snow for the first month or two was. but karma can't last that long. jex it's probably cause you steal all the bums cans so you can pay for your gas money.

today was the worst day of skiing in my whole life. it was raining and so windy. and when you went to hit a box/jump/rail some noob would be on all fours on the lip.

holy shit. go to weather.com and then type in alpine meadows. read the storm warning. Looks like redemtion for the rain. Also for entertainment type in 89512. thats for reno. Majore catasprohpic flooding forcasted.

yeah alpine is closed today cuz of the storm and all the roads out of tahoe are closed, flooded, and blocked by fallen trees. i don't know how i'm gonna get outta here.

im in gardnerville and everything is flooded! soo gnarly. our horses are practically swimming. jex, looks like our plans for new years is ruined cause 395 is closed and the downtown events might be be canceled.

did you hear about the mudslide going up 80? looks like we wont make it to alpine for a few days. this blows. :( but on a good note the tops of the mnts supposedly got feet last night and more is on it's way. :)

^thats at heavenly but you should check out kwood too...man oh man does it forcast a huge dump...i think i may have to postpone heavenly

haha we're in vegas for new years and it's lovely! Too bad we flew out of Reno and it will be impossible to ever get home now:(

go to noaa.gov for government flood warnings/info.

jex, they cleaned up the little mudslide and i'm pickin up dave frey. lenzner will be in around 9. yess we are going swimmin downtown. we gotta go skiing tomorrow somehow

I just got back from a roadtrip to Vegas, Flagstaff and Phoenix. Got to california. what did it do? RAINED. I was in Ventura beach and it was just dumping, by the time I got to Santa Barbara it was raining so hard that it was raining UPWARDS... California was just flat out rained out.

Sunday and Monday should bring some good shit tho... In LA they were expecting snow levels down to 5000 I can expect even lower for northern Cal.

The storm will come. 12-36 inches expected above 5000 for basicly the pacific region sounds good to me :)
