No one has any input??........................

Chilled in North Lake a lot when I lived in Mamm but I know nothing about South Lake..................

Park is pretty legit, good trees, ok vert, awesome nightlife, heavy snow. That was at least my general impression when I was out there for a few days a couple years ago.

I live in South Lake, and that's all you need to know... ha! but really, super fun town, good mountains all around. Heavenly's not the best but really fun parks/trees, and with the pass you get to ski Northstar too. Aaaand Sierra's pass is only $200ish and about 15 min out of town, definitely worth it.

^ and sierra is pretty sick if once you learn the mountain. Just prepare to be on the second best side of the lake, that is all.

Heavenly, South shore Heavenly has some of the best parks in tahoe, their park crew is awesome and they have such a variety of features. The lines arn't long on sundays or weekdays and the vibe is chill. Oh powder days, They open Mott/Killabrew canyon along with Firebreak (or something like that, it's on the tip of my tounge) It's a huge backcountry area that is awesome. TIPS FOR HEAVENLY If you go on the cali side, past the gondola, their is the cali lodge. Don't park on the bottom lots, their is almost an access road to the left of the lodge right to the left of the WORLD CUP lift, by the house's. You can ski to the lift and ski to your car with a walk of no more of 10 seconds.

Nightlife is pretty crazy with the casino's and shit so it's awesome. Their are some sweet backcountry stashes at heavenly.

Over all just a fun mountian, but a true tahoe skier tip, when it dumps snow make the drive to kirkwood.

i mostly skied sierra last year so i can only say so much about heavenly

the park scene is ok. they have a lot of cool features, and park crew is forced to work their asses off. unfortunately there's a lot of "youre doing it wrong" type of shit going on. probably doesnt compare much to other vail resorts

living/housing/nightlife depends on what kind of scene you like. house parties during winter are typically a tiny ass little hole with a bunch of grungy pot heads toking away listening to awful dubstep. the club/bar scene i hear is a lot better although i just turned 21 so i cant say much there. if you go out, im pretty sure thursdays are the days to go because thats when resort employees get their paychecks and they spend that shit. just like anywhere housing can be really expensive or really cheap

backcountry is some of my favorite. midday on powder days is not a hard time to find copious amounts of fresh snow

the locals are obviously the shit. however,

sierra/heavenly < north tahoe resorts < CO or UT

Pretty underrated in my opinion. Once you get to know Heavenly there is tons of sick terrain that is not too far off the beaten path. It can be a pain to get around at first, but there are so many stashes that are easy to get to. SLT is a really good town to live in. Pretty cheap compared to North Lake with lots to do. I work park crew at Heavenly so I have a pretty biased opinion on the park. That being said, our parks are always very well maintained and I always have a ton of fun riding them.

I don't like skiing park unless there is now fresh snow and it's slushy. That being said I alos don't enjoy much of the mountain of heavenly.

With all of the above stated if I am wanting to ski park anywhere it is going to be heavenly. I ski kirkwood because I like cliffs and steeps. I enjoy heavenly because of their park, and only their park. I guess you could also say I enjoy it because it's closer to whiskey dicks which is an amazing cheap beer bar.

probly the top place in the USA to show off your mogul skills.

Heavenly is like the fat girl in the group of chicks you are hitting on. She gives really good head(park), but when its time to smash she is just aight, and she is actually pretty flat. You also wont want to brag about nailing her...but overall it was still a really fun time because sex with a female(skiing) is always better than sex with your hand(not skiing and sitting on NS)

i go there for park kirkwood for pow. it is really close which is nice, so the connivence is there, def a fun place to cruise on a sunny day when it has not snowed for a minute, groove is one of the funnest parks to get some quick mellow jib laps, and its vail so they put a good effort into grooming. If we get a cold storm you can ski 3000 vert of pow to garnderville, mott gets track fast, killibrew has some nice lines and a traverse in and out so it does not get tracked as fast, the tree skiing would be great if it wasn't so flat. fun mountain if you have a kirkwood pass too for pow, or touring gear, because anyone saying your on the second best shore hasn't been into the bc, carson pass, all I will say.

I lived in Tahoe for a winter and went to CO a couple times and I'd definitely say that, overall, North Tahoe is way better (Their parks are obviously better, but overall North Lake's better). Though Denver definitely has better concerts going through.

i think heavenly has one of the most creative parks in tahoe.. only been there 2 times so dont know to much about anything else.

as was stated above, on a pow day, make the drive to kirkwood. depending on road conditions it can be anywhere from 45 minutes to two hours to get there. sierra is an awesome little place about 15 minutes from south lake.

heavenly is a jack of all trades, but a master of none, however the nightlife is so good, opal in montbleu and vex in harrahs are my two favorite clubs, for bars hit up whiskey dicks, moe's is a good place to shoot some pool and grab a pitcher and it's pretty close to the heavenly cal base.

rent in south lake can definitely vary, if you wanna live alone it can easily be up in the 750 to 1000 range, if you live with a few roomies it can be as low as 350.

I personally have two roomies, and my rent is 500 utilities included.

going to northshore and only skiing northstar is like going to the Playboy mansion and hooking up with a fat chick.

sorry for the dub post...but Heavenly is sick as hell if u know it well, there is a huge amount of terrain, and most of the people i think get stuck to skiing ares that very obivously get right down to a main lift, and most of the awesome places look like they go off in to no where. yeah the obivous places get tracked out super fast, but it seems that there are stashes everywhere. Its not my favorite resort, but it does have a few of my favorite little stashes, that are never tracked out before we get there.

If you start from the very top i think its well over 4000 of vert by the time you get to garnderville. By far the longest pow run I have skied anywhere.

mammoth is an amazing place.

spots to hit at heavenly - killebrew and motts canyon on pow days, killebrew definitely gets tracked out less, you can also now ski the face, but just be careful cause there was a wildfire there a few years back and if you're backseat and do a butt check, you can definitely hit something sharp and end up with a second asshole. just my 2 cents.
