earbuds for like the school bus or if u need them to fit somewhere compact. otherwise if u want a really comfortable enjoyable listening then the others. i've heard that Shure headphones are off the hook though.
 
i have some sony earbuds for when i wear my helmet which is like all the time but if i dont ever wear them i got some nice big dj headphones.
 
Sony MDR V300. goods sound, looks pimp, retail is up to 100 bucks CAN... or 30 if you know someone who works at Best Buy!

My only beef is that they whistle when you are going fast. If i ever break them, i'll probly take them apart and inigrate them into my helmet.
 
I'm not a huge audiophile but I hate it that you have to listen to music so quietly so that you don' annoy everyone else in the room, especially with earbuds. I personally rock some creative earbuds.
 
get the bose triport headphones they are beast i have them one of the best headphones out there only drawback is there expensive and kinda big
 
STOP PLEASE. you all need to stop making recommendations before you hurt the man's hearing.

First thing: Sony MDR-V600, 300, 700. Yeah I have news for you all, they may look good, but really they do suck, not gonna lie, seriously, most overpriced headphones ever. In no way are they any good at all.

Grado Headphones: These headphones are the bomb. Seriously awesome bass. THe Sr-125 is sort of the black sheep of the family so don't get it. The previous poster has no idea what he is talkin about. Just bump up to the SR-225. But for protablility?? the Grado's are both not very comfortable, not cool looking, and not good for skiing, they won't stay on your head and don't take too much abuse well. If you must get a Grado get the SR-60, its the cheapest model but seriously rocks.

My rec? For skiing look at the Koss KSC-35 or 75. Both of these phones are awesome with serious bass and GREAT for portability. If you like earbud style stuff, then get either the Shure E2c (cheapest) or if you must spend more than 150 get the SHure e4c. These are in ear moniters. They actually go in your ear canals so thye take a little to get used too. Apple earbuds suck. Basically all earbuds suck except for maybe the Sony EX71 or Sennheiser MX400, these are ok, but seriously don't get earbuds

PS don't ever get Bose. Anyone who tells you the triports are any good has never heard a decent pair of headphones in there life
 
whats wrong with bose and the triports they have sweet bass they suck for sking but their not a crappy headphone by the way for those who were wondering the Shure e4c costs like 600

and seriously don't make a claim like the bose triports are awesome when you have no idea what you are talking about. For 150 you can get much much better pair of headphones than the Bose triports and I feel bad for you if you spent that much money on them. Sure they sound better than most of the stuff on the shelf at Best Buy (read as all of the Sony MDR VJ series) but there are much much better headphones for the money
 
Sony MDR-EX71 earbuds man. They have rubber pieces so that the bud actually fits inside your ear canal. They sound so sick and actually cancel out a lot of background noice. These are the only buds I will ever wear, all other plastic buds are uncomfortable and fall out of my ears all the time. The Sony's straight up stick into your ear. Check em out. Only drawback, they are kinda expensive for buds...like 50 bucks or something.
 
I'm not gonna lie, I really big into headphones. For portable I use the Shure E4c. for at home I use the Audio Technica ATH-AD2000, but you can't even buy them in the US and they are over 500 bucks. For skiing I would probably recommend the SHure E4c (170), Ultimate Ears Super.Fi 5 Pro (200?), Koss KSC-35 (25), Koss KSC-75 (20. These will give you the best sound with the Super Fi's having the best bass and be the most "rockin". The Koss's are clip ons so they sould work well underneath helemts, stay with you when you are hucking, etc etc. They also sound pretty good compared to most headphones under 80 bucks. The Sennheiser PX100 is also really good as is the Grado SR-60, but both of thse go over your head and won't really be good for skiing and could fall off easily.

Looking for Big Badass looking headphones? look to the Sennheiser HD-201. They also isolate you from the outside environment a lot. Also check out the Audio Technica ATH-A700.

It all depends, are what you are using them for. Are you going to be skiing with them on? walking around with them? just listening at home? do you want as much bass as possible or do you like to hear the music? what kind of music do you listen to? how much would you be willing to spend? answer these questions and I can give you a better recommendation
 
The EX71 is probably the best earbud avalible, but still its an earbud. In ear monters such as Shure's or ultimate ears will give you COMPLETE isolation from outside noise. With the music on and the phones in, I cANNOT hear ANNNYthing. I hate earbuds myself, but I know some people like them. The EX71 does just enter the end of the ear canal, but the IEM's go into the ear all the way, not kidding, they are just about 1-2cm from the ear drum. I just really find in hard to recommend earbuds to anyone when IEM's are just so much better. The only problem is they take a little bit to get used to and you have to get used to taking them in and putting them out. If they do not creat an airtight seal, the sound will suffer a lot.
 
Haha thanks scubasteve, everyone recommends the sony mdr series. I have a pair of Alessandro MS-1s, AKG 240s, and Shure EC2s. I don't really like to use any of those for skiing, but I also have a pair of Panasonic HJE-50s which are a cheaper in ear headphone that I use skiing and working out.
 
well aside from grado, cause you said those aren't very comfortable or good looking. i need something that will stay on my head and looks good. 50-60-70bucks
 
Yeah I have Sony V500s and the sound is absolutely terrible. I got them really cheap on eBay though, I wear them sometimes but most of the time I have my EX-71s, they sound a hell of a lot nicer.
 
thanks for the headsup. i was about to fork $100 (aus) for mdr-v700s, but now i think im gonna go spend twice as much & get some really nice studio ones, but i can never remember what theyre called-i gave the poor dude in the shop about 1/2 of grief trying to describe them.

i have little $20 jvc clip ons for when im doing active stuff-go under helmets nicely & dont make ur ears hot
 
bang and olufsen.... they make some fuckin nice ass wrap headphones, easily the most comfortable and really good sound quality... pretty pricy tho
 
what are some headphones with good sound quality and LOTS OF BASS that arent real expensive
 
ok scuba steve i have a few questions:

1) serously why do u know so much, are u like in the music industry or something?

2) I'm mainly going to be using the headphones for like busride to school, home and in the car, so would the sennheiser px100 be good for me. i was also looking at the hd 201 i think and these are only $25, but are they good quality.

3) a few people reccomended skullcandy. what's your opinion on them.

4)If i do end up wanting to spend over $50, whats a good reason to tell my parents that im not wasting money, cause they will think that im just spending money for no reason.
 
a friend of mine has px 100s, theyre pretty good for the price, no isolation (good for driving, bad for being in noisy places)
 
KSC-35 They do have some killer bass and they can be found for under 30. KSC 75 is the same driver, but just the clip that is used puts it a little closer to you ear on the 35 so you get more bass
 
1) Nope, just really into headphones, hoepfully going into the industry some day though. I am going to school right now

2)PX100 is a awesome phone for the price. The 201 is good to but they are much bigger and heavier. It depends on if you want isolation or not. With the 201 you will get a lot, with the px100 you get none. I would rec the px100 myself, they are nice and portable and have really good bass

3) I have heard only a little about them, but everything I have heard says they suck alot

4) If you spend money on an IEM over 50 you can tell them you are saving your hearing. The isolation allows you to keep the volume lower, but still thinking you are hearing the same volume. Othewise, tell them good headphones are a good investment, crappy headphones won't only sound bad, but also break quickly
 
Also... for all you bass heads

If you want the headphone for under 200 with the most BASSS ever in a headphone get the Beyerdynamic DT770. Seriously this thing has so much bass, its not even funny. IF any of you are thinking of ponying up over 150 for some really good headphones and you love bass more than life it self, get these headphones. I can't eve say enough how insane the bass is on them
 
hey scubasteve i really appreciate your helping me. i probably would've never looked at sennheiser if u hadn't reccomended them, but now as i see all the reviews for them, it seems i'll be getting some px100's. just one more question though. with the px100's since u said there is no isolation, will a little talking and noise interfere too much, or not really. i'd prob use these for longboad cruising or something so i was thinking they'd be good to hear cars and whatnot, but for a little corwded ares would these perfrom well. (also they match the ipod perfectly) thanks again for all your help.
 
yeah they will be fine. With music on you won't be able to hear much anyways. when I say no isolation I mean that without any music on your hearing will be not at all/slightly impaired. Isolation like the HD201 means that everything around you is significantly quiter than normal with out the music playing
 
Yea, the skullcandy skullcrushers are amazing if you like tons of bass. And even with the Subwoofer turned down or it off, it still sounds good. They are really confortable on the head, they stay on mostly for me skiing and hitting jumps and whatnot. The only problem I have with them is they arn't the loudest headphones. They are fairly loud, just not as much as you'd expect, but with noise-cancellation, you don't need it that loud anyways, all you hear is the music, even through beanies. I definatley recommend skullcrushers.
 
Call or email Sony. I lost a pad from my old ones (638 I think, the "Groove" ones) and they sent me new ones free.
