I'm goin to the U startin soon and i'm lookin for ppl to ski and chill with. Anybody want a tahoe born buddy who needs help transitioning to a non alcoholic state?

non-alcoholic?... i dont know why everyone always has all of these preconceived notions that when they get to slc, that all the alcohol suddenly disappears and that its impossible to get drunk... well just so you know our 3.2 beer really isnt all that bad (even though it doesnt taste as good) for every 15 regular beers you drink, its like drinking 14 utah beers... so its not that bad... and the liquor store by my house (in sugarhood) is open till 10:30 everynight (except sundays, no liquor stores)... oh.. and kegs are only an hour away..

Please.

I've been to Utah.. it's pathetic for alcohol.

If you're riding in Zermatt, and order a Grimbergen Blonde at the pub, it will have 12% alcohol in it. This is one of the many good beers with 9%-12% alcohol in it. Thats FOUR times what's in your non-alcoholic beer. 3.2% is not beer. It's like filling half your glass with beer and half your glass with water. It's like trying to get drunk on orange juice.

There is no night life in Utah. All you can do is hang out with friends.

I got drunk in Utah once.. and then they kicked everyone out the club at midnight. MIDNIGHT. Midnight is when people are pre-drinking before heading out to the club.

That state is just weird.

i have to throw in that out of the 4 vacations i have taken there...i have yet to get crunk like i can in a big city/college city/place with a lot of people. i have gone to completely new places and cities alone or with a couple of friends and found the party, whether it is a club, house party, college party, whatever. the first time i went to salt lake city when i was 15 with a couple of kids my age we could barely find a place to eat on sunday haha.

that being said, the skiing there fucking ROCKS. why do you think i keep coming back? just buy a bunch of bottles, and get slammed by yourself in your hotel room and watch modern marvels on the history channel. thats a good time in general, and a fucking rager in Utah.

is that near beer what you have to buy in super markets? can you purchase normal beer at a liquor store?

^ you can buy real beer at the liquor store for an unreasonable price...if you're up in Park City, you're drinking at elevation anyway, it's really not that much of a difference from drinking normal beer at sea level

one time we were drinking in alta, at 9400 feet in a snow cave, off of our bootleg keg, we went inside to eat dinner, and our keg got snowed in. it took 2 men 30 minutes to dig back out the opening so we could get access to the keg again. BUMMER, needless to say we all went to bed at 10pm sharp so we could be up for some serious shreading.

While I won't disagree that this state is weird, the alcohol situation really isn't that bad. Just buy it from a liquor story... or if you still hate the beer, drink hard liquor. And all of the skiing makes up for it, haha, like smugg's story just said.

In a discussion forum if someone makes a statement and you think that statement is false, you reply. That's the point of a discussion. If you don't like it get off and stop complaining.

I was born and raised in Philly, which has a pretty good drinking scene. I went to the UofU in SLC for 5 years, and there is no problem at all finding a place or someone to drink with when you live there. If you just go on vacation I can see how you would get a negative impression of the drinking scene, but in reality its no different than most places. Kegs are illegal which sucks but everybody gets them from WY anyway and "bar memberships" are no more than a $3 cover charge, and they are never followed anyway. Finding a drink will not be the issue, getting up the next morning with a vicious hangover to race for freshies is what you need to worry about.

haha this is funny.

partying and drinking in utah is not that bad. It's not as good as other places, but it's fine.

there will be lots of people to chill with once you get here, and get into the scene.

yo if your in slc wheres the best place to stay to shred, i might be there for a few weeks this season and i want to have easy access to the sick resorts but preferably park city.

haha, alright, sounds like there's no lack of skiers or parties over yonder. I'll see everyone over there next month. Chapel Glen 804 is where da party be at

Just so all yall crackas kno,

Utahs notorious "3.2%" beer is measured by weight, not volume(which everywhere else does), so if you measure by volume, its 4%, not 3.2%.  So basically you are all bitching becuase Utah beer is 4 instead of 5 % alcohol...who gives a fuck, if you wanna get drunk, drink some vodka, if you wanna piss 30 times drink a shit load of beer, which tastes like shit anyway.

Haha in 2000, my freshman year I lived in Chapel Glenn 803, it was brand new, when we moved in there was still plastic on the chairs and desks.

well just so you know... nothing that i stated was false... your just opinionated on the matter... so like alex said... stop complaining and dont come here anyways, more epic pow for me.

oh... and talk about falsifications... FOUR times as many huh?? well lets do some simple math... our beer is 3.2 BY WEIGHT which equals 4.0 BY VOLUME (which is how your beer is measured)... sooooo.... 9/4=2.25 and 12/4=3 so in no way, shape or form is that FOUR times as many... so maybe get your facts straight before you wanna be a douche next time..

oh and just so you know, those liquor stores that i mentioned, yea they have real beer... and wouldnt you be surprised to know they even carry highpoint!! OMG!!!

hahaha dont worry about having "skier" parties in the dorms, theres soooo many "skier" house parties in slc that it doesnt even matter....

parties in the dorms is good for one thing....bangin non-ski girls and corrupting mormons.....

Anyone who talks shit about utah and drinking has no idea what they are talking about and 99% chance they don't live in utah. If you really want to know about utah life outside of skiing talk to someone who lives here, like me.

drinking aside salt lake is legit as fuck! free concerts throughout the summer (the roots and de la soul!), a bunch of hiking and camping spots in the mountains, some dope golf and disc golf courses, SO MANY dope skateparks, molca salsa, factory 4 u, and of course all the ill skiing to be done in the winter! booyah salt lake.
