Head vs. Völkl

hey i was thinking on getting some new skis this year and i previosly have the head mojos and i was really impressed by their proformence but i have heard some really good thing about the Völkl Karma's. I was wondering if anyone has skied the Karma's and if they are a decint ski.

Isn't the karma just this year's incarnation of the V-pro? I'm a fan of head, but I don't think you can go wrong with either.

Karma's all the way man. Especially if you wanna crossover. I predict it will be the first ski worth skiing every day of the year. This coming from a man with a quiver. If you're going with one ski this year make it the Karma.

 
^ word to that. I rocked hard on my madtrix for 3 years and they still haven't busted beyond needing base welds... and that's just cuz I am non-discriminant about lines that might have rocks.

as much as i'd like a new pair of skis, i already have some so i'd definatly take the head, as long as theres no teeth involved, oh yeah, and shes gotta cup the balls too.

depends on a lot of factors. how much you weight, how much park you ride, etc etc. give some details and prolly ppl will be able to give you a better answer. both skis are killer but suit different types of riders.

 
i bought some new old madtrix last year the black and white ones from sportchek. i can't kill the damn ski, i learned rails on them and my edges are in mint shape, REDICULOUS i say, i would go for the new madtrix they are sick

i say dont buy volkls, whatever you do, simply because my volkls broke wayyyyy to easily, after maybe 5 times on snow. and my buddies' situation with his volkl's is the same, if not worse than mine. i have never personally heard any complaints over heads.

Your mistake. Even with the SUPER GAY graphics the Head is a muuuchhh better ski. and don't think I am baised or some shit, b/c I have owned both head and volkl skis, and the head's whoop the volkl's asses... EVERYWHERE.

HEAD SKIS ARE BOMB PROOF...make the right choice.

when i say my volkl's fell apart, im talking about my 2002 expressions. the way the edges were held in place was the downfall of that ski, because, well, they werent held in place whatsoever, and my ski ended up blowing apart because of it.

now other than that, the ski's performance was above average, and now that the graphics of volkl's are super, they arent a bad idea.

so as long as volkl fixed those durability problems from a couple seasons ago, they shouldnt be that bad of a choice. i guess i came on too strong against volkl in my last post.

You have made a great selection. Ether way both the mad trix and karma are great skis. The expression is a noodle. I recon volkl just make them so shit skiers can have a ski from the best company, without having to ski a grunty and stiff ski.

i have a pair of v-pros and they kick ass. the karmas are pretty much the same thing but wider and better. they will rip through any kinds of conditions no matter what the weather throws at you. if you ever buy anything for quality buy volkl, you wont bet let down. (dont get me wrong, mt's are an awesome ski) but volkls kick the shit out of them

 
i have KArma 185s. they cut my leg pretty bad but i still love them. lol they're pretty good skis.

Volkl, all my friends that ride them are completly blown away. i picked up a pair of Explosives and cant wait to give em a whack...

 
The karma is a nice ski, exept for my db's which I like better than those the Karma would be my choise. /msg me if you change youre mind and want to buy som drake boinays you cant go wrong with those.

there is no metal in the karma its wood core from tip to tail. its completely reconstructed and is very differnt from the retired V-PRO. it also has one of the stongest edges ever made! you cant go wrong if you can afford the price tag I would recomend it for skiing anywhere on the mountain. i dont know much about Head and i have never heard anything bad about them so really you cant lose. alls i can say is wood core is the way to go!

Karmas are mucho light as well, much lighter than the madtrix. they're heaps lighter than Scratch BC even.

Yeah I had heard they were heavy because of a metal-topsheet or something?

I love the V-Pro's, I'm itching to demo some Karmas this season in the US though. I was under the impression (though I have no idea where I heard it from) that the Karmas were an amalgamation of the V-Pro and the G4 (or whatever the newer version was...AX4??)

Volkl's are awesome skis, though they tend to be pretty punishing for new skiers (I think coz they tend to be so stiff).

So as long as you're not a novice you will have a serious blast on them...Lucky baastad ;)

 
carma is buy far the way to go - i have been rideing them for a season and it has the be the best ski on snow. ow sure about the grip tape top but the ski is great

buy they asap

^the karmas are black/red in 177 and white/blue in 167. i also want to buy one of those skis either head mojo or völkl karma. i havent read anything about the weight yet so can anyone please help here?
